Greetings! My name is Mr. W. and I am available to help students with their tutoring needs. I have a Master's Degree in history from the University of Nebraska and the subject is my passion. I recently moved to California to obtain my full teaching credential and a second Master's Degree in Education from National University.
My approach to teaching history is simple and inspiring. I tend to focus on developing skills that are necessary to analyze and synthesize information correctly. However, history also involves creative thinking. In many ways, reading about historical topics is very similar to reading classical literature. The only difference is in the emphasis on the historical facts and not merely a set of abstract ideas. Therefore, history is the stage where abstract ideas meet historical realities. It is a process of thinking and reflecting about the world.
Overall, I strive to help students maintain the balance between creative thinking and communicating historical subject matter. Naturally, we all have our own unique perspective that involves the world where we live. I always encourage my students to think outside of the box when studying history. History is a fun but complex subject and every subject in life has a history of its own. Working with me could ultimately help a student to expand their historical interests beyond textbooks to the living history that makes up our lives. I look forward to hear from you! Greetings! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
