Hi, my name is Kostas. I am an experienced tutor having taught students for three semesters at EOP at San Diego State University. I have taught a broad variety of classes teaching English and literature, math, science, and Spanish mainly. I have tutored students of all ethnicities and do well with students of all backgrounds. The students using EOP are often disadvantaged people who are having problems with their studies because of their past. I excelled in
helping these people and often worked with difficult students that were sent to me helping them to achieve success and overcome their obstacles to learning. My background in counseling has helped me to help students overcome fears they have with respect to learning certain subjects. I create real friendships with my students helping them solve problems at home that maybe interfering with their learning in school. I am a good listener, am patient, and am sensitive to concerns students have and individual differences.
I have a BA in Psychology and am planning to finish my MA in Psychology in the near future. I currently write self-improvement seminars and do counseling to help people live better lives. I am a lifelong student with a real love of learning who reads books of all kinds. I love helping students learn and develop a love of learning. Learning is valuable in its own right. I love to see my students succeed in their subjects and experience the happiness that
comes through learning. Learning to complete a degree to improve oneself financially and to improve one's career is very important. I like to instill a lifelong love of learning in my students because it helps them become more open-minded and enlightened leading to a better life and greater success in their careers and personal lives.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
