My name is Alyssa, and I would love to be your tutor! I am a San Diego native, and currently attend San Diego State University. I am majoring in Political Science with a minor in French and an Honors Minor in Interdisciplinary Studies. My hobbies include dancing, wake boarding, reading, and running. I graduated from high school with a 4.3 GPA, and pride myself on organization, helpful note-taking techniques, and study strategies. I have experience as a volunteer tutor at my local high school and teach dance throughout the summer while not in school. I enjoy working with students and helping them gain confidence at the end of every lesson.
My academic strong points are in U.S. History, Government, grammar, and writing. I like to approach tutoring by catering to individual student needs, depending on their learning styles, age, and requests. I intend to make sure that each student leaves with more tips for success and better knowledge in their desired subject. I hope that I can be of use to your needs, and look forward to working with you.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
