In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am experienced with tutoring kids and even young adults intermediate guitar lessons and bass lessons. I provide the materials that are suitable for the skill level of the student. I intend on teaching what the student wants, not limited to what I want to teach.
I started playing bass when I was 12 and picked up guitar when I was 15.
I've played for my high school jazz band and orchestra. I've also played for a jazz combo and the jazz band during my university years. I've given many lessons, specifically in the field of funk rock bass and acoustic guitar lessons.
Most beginner to intermediate classes I've taught consisted of chord progression, scales, play-along, and creating riffs and basic solo improvs. I tend to begin my beginner courses by teaching tablatures and basic chords in the key of C and G.
For my intermediate classes I like to implement a Jazz feel because Jazz provides every aspect of music from pop, punk, rock, swing etc. This allows the student to sort of branch out on its own category. It allows both the student and myself to fully comprehend the musical path he or she is trying to take.
Once comfortable with chords and tab reading, I believe it is essential for the student to practice and mimic songs of bands they like to keep them interested in the musical field. A lot of what I learned teaching the materials given to me to teach from my superiors required the student to follow a strict lesson plan. While this may work, I don't use this form of teaching simply because music is supposed to be an art where you can freely express your emotions and feelings through the instrument; I feel that it is essential for students to express themselves freely.
