Hi! My name is Maria. I am a recent MPH graduate from San Diego State University (SDSU) specializing in health promotion and behavioral science. I am currently working as a Research Associate at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in the Department of Global Public Health.
Throughout college I had the opportunity to be a mentor and a tutor for athletes in the Academic Enrichment Center at University of South Carolina (USC). I tutored students in English, statistics, history and English. In addition, at USC, I was a conversation tutor in Spanish and Portuguese. One of the things that I enjoy most about tutoring is the satisfaction of helping someone fulfill their goals. Therefore, it is an honor to be a tutor for others
As a graduate student at SDSU, I also had the opportunity to tutor conversational Spanish and well as giving reading comprehension classes. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
