About Thomas

In your personal life, you are known for the company you keep. In your professional life, you are known for the company that keeps you.

Over a career spanning fifteen years, I have worked with several multinationals and risen rapidly through the ranks to become one of the youngest Creative Directors in Ogilvy Advertising and later Vice President, Development and Marketing, at Vinod Chopra Films. Across all the positions and ranks I have held over this period, my contribution has largely shifted the course of events for the companies I worked for.

At Ogilvy, the division I joined was a start-up and I was the lead Art Director and Creative Supervisor—primarily responsible for pitches and presentations. The division grew rapidly to boom from four employees to nineteen in just under a year and effortlessly held its position as the most profitable division, for the time I was around. I hired the teams and mentored every member to create award winning campaigns. Among the hundreds of creative professional I have mentored, today several of them hold very high positions as Country Heads and National Creative Directors across major international advertising agencies.

This trend has continued across all my engagements. In my last major commitment with an organization, as Vice President of a boutique film production house in Mumbai, I restructured the company and mentored the newly recruited team—driving it to new levels of success. In the three and a half years that I was at the helm, the company released three feature films, two of which became the all-time highest grossing films in Indian history. Today, that small boutique company is regarded as one of the biggest studios in India.

My early education in a Catholic school and a Bachelors in Physics set a strong foundation for a life-long passion for learning. In 2005, I acquired a Diploma in Film from Prague Film School, with a double major in Direction and Cinematography. Professionally, I am involved with several projects ranging from feature films to television series. To keep my creative juices flowing, I actively participate with various research studies in Neuroscience and Natural Healing.

Recently, I have had the pleasure of interviewing two 'Time 100' neuroscience pioneers. In 2009, I was invited by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to his palace in Northern India. His interest in education with a focus on the inner expansion of the mind for personal growth was the common string that connected us and brought my work to his attention.

In 2011, I founded a 501(c)3 non-profit organization; the vision that continues to propel my team to face new challenges each day is to create a readily accessible abundant resource of education tools packaged as mainstream entertainment for individuals of all ages and every walk of life. An empty mind is a devil's workshop. Our brain and mind can expand infinitely, it is only a matter of how far we are willing to stretch it. The one's who stall their education and stop their path of learning meet with stagnation and decay. The result of such a stasis can be fatal. One can lose their will to live and engage in self-destructive and anti-social behavior.

This is a central theme for my work and personal commitment for growth—I wish to engage and inspire as many individuals as I can to push their boundaries in exploring their highest potential. Having traveled extensively throughout India, Europe and North America, I have interacted with diverse cultures and am very tolerant to new ideas and challenging concepts. I have learned immensely from these experiences and I am better for it.

Additionally, my vocabulary is extensive because of the numerous subjects I pursue. I actively engage my mind in pursuit of new concepts and ideas for inventions and discoveries in medical science, product design and lifestyle improvement. My work in films and entertainment involves constantly translating my experiences and observations into captivating moments on screen, this involves songwriting, composing, screenwriting, writing dialogue and several other innovate ways to convey a thought. I have also addressed several gatherings and have been well received for my rhetoric and discourse. I believe being active physically and mentally helps improve one's intellect and cognition, maybe this might have something to do with my high IQ score of 140.

Among the subjects students are likely to gain an unmatched mentoring from my experience and talents include: English (both as a foreign language as well as a second language), literature, film production, video editing, post production, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, graphic design, theater, songwriting, screenwriting, computer skills, Mac OS X, career planning, meditation, relaxation, science, math, and general knowledge.

I greatly appreciate your taking the time to review my profile and I look forward to having the opportunity to work together to help you and/or your child achieve remarkable results and enjoy the process of education.

Yours sincerely,
In your personal life, you are known for the company you keep. In your professional life, you are known for the company that keeps you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Desktop Publishing

I have an expert level of proficiency in the entire desktop publishing workflow and all the software required for such, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, and Lightroom, among others.

Since 1999, I have worked with large multinational agencies including Ogilvy Advertising and Reliance in the capacity of Senior Art Director and Creative Supervisor.

I have designed over a 100 websites and web advertising, which use HTML, Javascript, CSS and Flash. I design the user experience (UX) screen workflow and then create the individual layouts in Photoshop, from where everything is then cropped and optimally saved for web download speeds. The layout is then assembled in Dreamweaver and the entire site is managed and integrated in this program. Once the site is tested offline, I test the site online with the client and a test audience. Once all the bugs are fixed, where Dreamweaver again proves to be the software of choice, I then finalize the site and it is uploaded to the server and made live to the world wide web.

I have used Dreamweaver since before Adobe acquired it. It was then called Macromedia Dreamweaver and had published the first set of tutorials for the software, which I used to get introduced to this wonderful software that has evolved and brought about a whole new generation of web designers and programmers who have started out using the (WYSIWYG) 'What You See Is What You Get' environment of Dreamweaver web-building.

Since I learned HTML programming using a basic notepad, I am able to go beyond just what Dreamweaver offers and personalize scripts to a greater extent than the set of options available within the program.

I have most recently used Dreamweaver to do the programming and integration for an HTML/CSS website design.

I graduated from Prague Film School (2005) with a Diploma in Film with a Double Major in Direction and Cinematography.

Public Speaking

I am a trained film director and have professionally worked to cast and train actors for several productions. A big part of my training at Prague Film School was mastering How to Direct Actors, which involved learning how to act and perform. This training helped me improve my communication abilities both in learning the power of the rhetoric as well as the power of the subtext.

Additionally, my work has enabled me to build up my confidence and trust to a level where I now feel like a natural at public speaking; as a Creative Supervisor in Advertising and later as Vice President, Development and Marketing for a Major Motion Picture Studio I was regularly required to address large gatherings of staff, clients and the general public at motivation meetings, important functions, and movie premieres.

This expansive experience from being able to personally utilize the theory involved in being a good public speaker to coaching actors and mentoring my team gives me the belief that I have a ready arsenal to successfully meet with any challenge involved with helping others unleash their infinite potential to charm, communicate and entertain as a captivating public speaker.

Video Production

I have been producing film and video content for over a decade. I have worked as the V.P., Development & Marketing with a prestigious film production house and been directly responsible for the development, production and marketing of three feature films.

I have produced several short films and web series content. Apart from trying my hands at all the new cameras that turn out frequently, I have received a Diploma in Film from Prague Film School, which has provided me with the fundamentals on which I continue to keep building by remaining a student through my several productions.

I am happy to share my knowledge and passion for film and entertainment by passing down what I have learned over these years so my students can use it to produce personal and compelling stories to share with the world.

I believe everyone has stories to share, it is how we share it that makes it interesting and worthwhile for the audience. The techniques of storytelling using audio-visual media is now the new way of communication. People video chat and FaceTime more than they write emails and handwritten mails. Professionally too, presentations are now required to be made via audio-visual media that covers a story and grips its audience, convincingly educating the viewer of the benefits of one's offering.

Video production has become simple and the tools are easily available today, but what is not as easy to acquire is the know-how and the fundamentals involved in powerful storytelling. This is where I can step in and help my students find the balance between technology and technique used to produce powerful video content.

Web Design

I have designed and implemented several sites. I enjoy designing sites that have a unique personality and convey the character of the company, business or individual represented by the site. It can be a blog or any of the available services or it can be a site that uses an existing template. I am perfectly comfortable designing the look and feel as well as the user experience completely from scratch to suit the client's needs.

Being able to sketch a design right on the page and start from a blank sheet, working all the way up to the final product allows a designer to experiment and think on their feet to address every need of an interactive website. I am glad to share my skills and experience to train anyone interested in this field.

A great teacher. — I have far too much education for my days on Earth. Teaching, in my opinion, is an art form. Some have it and most do not. For me, it has always been about the professor’s ability to communicate, intellect, patience, demeanor, and (most important) listen and reply to questions (regardless of how basic the issue may be). Thomas has all the attributes and characteristics of a great teacher. I am qui ...
