University of California, San Diego (UCSD) (Master's)
I graduated with honors from the University of Chicago, where I obtained my BS in biological chemistry and my BA in chemistry. Additionally, I spent about three years doing research in a quantum mechanics lab at James Franck Institute, the University of Chicago.
Currently, I am a graduate student of biomedical engineering at University of California, San Diego (UCSD).
I have been tutoring for over 9 years, and I am happy to have helped bright students achieve their maximum potentials. I believe when students are given the proper guidance to actually learn the material (instead of mere memorization), they enjoy the subject and consequently, do great in the course. I was extremely fortunate to have some exceptionally talented and caring teachers in my academic career, and I do my best to bring the same experience to my students.
My first session is always free, as I want to make sure the student and I will form a good team in the event of continuing the tutoring sessions. If I do not see that chemistry, I respectfully decline the request as I do not wish to waste the student's time or financial resources. I always do a free first lesson to make sure I am the right tutor for the student. I am also open to discussing your specific needs with regards to my rate and other policies.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken AP calculus in high school. Not only did I finish the course with the highest percentage point in class, but I also scored a 5 on the AP test.
I have taken numerous higher level courses in college, necessary for quantum mechanics and theoretical physics.
I have won numerous state awards in water color, charcoal, and color pencil. I am an all-time first place winner in state competitions in Iran, throughout middle school. Upon request I will provide sample works.
I have won the first place in state watercolor and charcoal competitions throughout the three years of middle school as well as two years of high school.
I have also won the first place in a handful of art competitions I have participated.
I have taken AP physics in high school. I finished the class with a full mark, and score a 5 on the AP exam.
My research at University of Chicago was on quantum mechanics. To that end, I took numerous higher level physics courses. Currently, I am a PhD student in biomedical engineering at UCSD.
