Hello! My name is Amanda and I am 25 years old. I hold a B.A. in Psychology and am actively planning for an M.A. or PhD in Psychology as well.
During my undergraduate studies, I spent my time working in two research labs under great professors: developmental child Psychology (Dr. Tuppett Yates) and Cognitive Law (Dr. Steven Clark) and also as a tutor for Math/Science/English/Spanish for WyzAnt.
I have a volume of experience teaching elementary and middle school kids. Most recently, I spent eight months in Mexico volunteering at an orphanage called "Siempre Para Los Ninos." I was given the opportunity to teach English, Spanish, and Math classes and help the kids everyday when they came home from school with their homework.
I learned Spanish in high school and as a result, understand the learning process, which is a benefit for when I supplement my own teaching style. I became genuinely fluent when I moved to Mexico, which is great because I learned to speak the "textbook" way first. I have experience teaching Spanish to adults as well.
Before my eight month experience, I was a Teen Mentor for the town I grew up in, Town of Danville, CA. I was in charge of the after-school facility called the Teen Center, where I helped with homework and was a positive influence and friend in their lives.
Now that I am living in San Diego, I am looking for new tutoring opportunities. I have the skills to help those in need, and want to be used as much as possible. Please contact me if you are interested in using me to help you or your children get through tough times in classes. Hello! My name is Amanda and I am 25 years old. Amanda is an amazing tutor: lovely, kind, patient, well-prepared & organized, engaging and interesting! My daughter is one who doesn't work well with many, is in need, but doesn't take assistance well. She loves to work with Amanda, is engaged, pays close attention, and learns a lot! My daughter looks forward to and welcomes her assistance! Amanda is truly a gift to our family!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
