I do not charge students for the first time I meet them. After the first meeting, if we both agree that we want to work together, then I begin to charge per hour.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored one student in Farsi for one week, 1 hour a day 5 days a week. He was an advanced student so we worked on conversation, we reviewed the different verb tenses in Farsi, and we read a poem by Golchin Gilani "Baaz Baaran" in Farsi. For beginner Farsi students, those who want to learn to read, write, speak and understand, the best method is to begin with the 32 letters of the alphabet. Then, in order to learn to write they practice spelling each letter as it goes in the beginning, middle, and end of the word. With each letter, they will learn a series of words. Then, I will use Colloquial Persian to go over basic conversations in Farsi. Etc. I have several books that I use for practice, reading, writing, grammar review, and role-play.
Since I have been teaching French for many years, and since Farsi is my native language, it would be a good educational experience for myself and the students if I branch out and begin tutoring students in Farsi. I would like to begin with very beginner students first, before tutoring them in more advanced concepts and terminology.
