About Michael

I believe in a broad knowledge base and that humanities, science, and math are all needed for success in life. I started tutoring in 2011 when I was working towards earning my Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in Anthropological Archaeology at UCSD. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.83 GPA from UCSD. Previous to my time at UCSD, I worked full-time and attended Grossmont Community College full-time, where I earned two Associate of Arts degrees, in History and Behavioral Sciences, with honors. My ultimate educational goal is to earn a Doctorate in History. On that path, I just graduated in May 2015 from SDSU with my Master of Arts in History with a 3.83 GPA. During this process, I wrote my master's thesis on "Motives for Roman Imperialism in North Africa, 300 BCE to 100 CE." I was able to finish this research project, editing, formatting, and publishing in two-years, a feat deemed impossible by faculty. In addition to school, I tutored several students on an ongoing basis, was a Teaching Assistant for two American Indians Studies classes at SDSU, and worked a part-time job.

I am a driven individual and have had many successes with students in a variety of subjects including math, writing, history, chemistry, archaeology, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, first year Italian and Latin, writing, reading comprehension, and test preparation. I can also provide help in research writing, editing, MLA, APA, ASA, University of Chicago, argumentative essays, and writing in general.

My primary objective in providing tutoring is to assist with understanding and increasing overall grades. Also, I have worked with students and achieved success with various learning disabilities. To achieve this goal, on the first meeting I assess the needs of the student and develop a plan for action. My greatest successes have been with students that receive regular lessons on an ongoing basis, but have also helped students preparing for a single upcoming test. I like to know how students do and how my lessons have helped my students, so feedback is central to my mission.

Feel free to contact me with any questions, I usually answer within the hour. I look forward to helping you or your student achieve academic success.

WyzAnt who do you think your foolin' I think Michael D. is actually Albert Einstien the second. He knows everything! — I am difficult to impress, but I am impressed with Michael D. He is intelligent. It is difficult to find people who can tackle many subjects. Michael can because he is simply intelligent, and able to figure out what is placed in front of him. He is very flexible also. Many tutors shy away from a lack of time. Not him. With only hours on the clock, he had my paper back to me in perfect timing. I a ...
