My name is Evan. I am 28 years old and I am a full time teacher and tutor. I have taught at various private schools in San Diego including the Bishop's School. I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2013 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a minor Physics. I have been helping students do better in their coursework for as long as I can remember. I have tutored my classmates and anyone who came to me for help since I began high school. I actually started out by tutoring my younger brother in many of his math and science courses. I have always excelled in my coursework as well as in test taking skills and have used those skills to help teach people how to learn more effectively and efficiently.
It is because of my interest in how people best learn that I now teach physics and robotics at The Bishop's School. Even when students struggle with a concept, I am always able to find a way to get them to see that concept in a new light and why it must make sense. I may not find a good way to demonstrate the concept on the first attempt, or even the second, but I know how to take a complex and difficult to understand situation and make it make sense to anyone. This helps the student to become independent and understand it for their own reasons rather than based on what some authority stated.
In my eyes, the purpose of teaching should not be to overwhelm students with information and force them to memorize but to illustrate basic concepts and have them figure out the details so that they can see that the world really does make a lot of sense. My goal is to do that for any student that I help to teach in all of their courses.

Makes Calculus Understandable
Excellent tutor who has the knack of breaking down Calculus so it is easily understood. Evan is very accommodating and manages to meet my son before scheduled quizzes/tests. We are very pleased with his instruction and highly recommend him for tutorial assistance.Meghan, 11 lessons with Evan

Knowledgeable and paitient tutor
Evan was great! We hired him last minute to help our HS freshman son study for his finals. He was extremely knowledgeable in Algebra and Science but also helpful in English. We highly recommend him and hope to have the opportunity to have Evan tutor our son again.Georgia, 4 lessons with Evan
Evan is tutoring my son in pre-calculus. He has a way of breaking down the material that makes more sense to my son. After 1 1/2 hour session my son had a better understanding of the chapter and scored an A in his test. Working with him every week now.Ann, 8 lessons with Evan

Understands the material like the back of his hand!!
Evan was very helpful! I was very confused in my Physics class and he helped me an unbelievable amount. I was planning on meeting with a different tutor prior to my time with Evan, but the other tutor bailed on me last minute. I found Evan online the day before my midterm. He met with me that day for 2 hours and I understood everything. Prior to meeting with him I knew the material about 2/10 (1= not know anything) and after our session I felt like I was a 9 or 10!! It got me a great grade on my test and was worth every penny, maybe even more. Thanks a lot Evan! I'll see you before my next exam.Kyle, 3 lessons with Evan

I found Evan to be an extremely effective tutor. He was the third person I worked with and it was with him that the material (in this case, AP Chem) finally made sense. Thank you.MJ, 6 lessons with Evan
a great tutor that I can highly recommend...
Evan has been a great tutor for my son. He worked with my son this past summer for several weeks to help prepare him for some of the more challenging subjects that were to come up for him in the new 10th grade school year. They explored the subjects of Algebra II, Biology and US History. Evan is dependable, professional, reliable, flexible and has made tutoring time interesting too, so that my son enjoys the sessions. From our experience with Evan, my son and I both recommend Evan as a tutor if you happen to be looking. Sincerely, MicheleMichele, 15 lessons with Evan
Great guy, good listener, easy to get along with, knowledgable
Evan started tutoring me and I begun to better understand the concepts of my class right from the beginning. It's great having someone who can explain things well, but also very patient and able to sit and watch as I do problems on my own and explain what I'm doing right or wrong, and give advice in a more efficient way on completing tasks.Michael, 23 lessons with Evan
