My name is Lynne and I am a very experienced and dedicated tutor. I have taught many students of all ages and of all levels in Canada, Mexico and in the United States.

I have excellent credentials. I have a BA in psychology and history from the University of Toronto and an MA in Urban Studies and US and African American History from Florida State University. I also have a Level 6 TOESL--Teaching English as a Second Language--Certificate from Language Link, an international organization affiliated with Cambridge University.

I love teaching students who are motivated and who have an interest in improving the ability to communicate. As you know, communication is very important to tell people things about yourself, your ideas, and your dreams.

If you are having problems with expressing your ideas for a school essay or assignment, I can help with that too. We can work together to not only improve your grades but also to improve your skills and understanding.

If you are a professional, I can help you with writing up your experiments, composing a professional letter, or editing and proofreading your reports and presentations.

My goal is to ensure that you meet your goals. A little help goes a long way.

I am ready to start as soon as you are ready.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am a professional published author who has taught writing and reading comprehension to students at the high school and university level. I am qualified to teach ESL as well which has taught me how to better teach reading comprehension to students who have a difficult time reading.
I am a very competent teacher and have a very good command of English grammar. This skill helps me to explain to students the best way to construct sentences and how to organize an essay.

College Counseling

I have counseled students applying to universities. We can work together to write the best personal statement possible to increase your chances of being accepted to your preferred university. I am a published author and well versed in what universities are looking for when considering the candidates' applications. I have a good track record here in San Diego.

I love to cook. But I also love to eat. I am a very adventurous person and I love to try different kinds of food. Eating in restaurants is expensive so I have learned how to cook different kinds of food at home. I have traveled around the world and have tasted wonderful foods from many different countries. We can try new foods together!

I am an English tutor with many years of experience teaching ESL to students from most countries of the world. I have excellent credentials and testaments from former students.

I have very good materials that will help you master the language and allow to reach a level that will give you the confidence to express all your ideas and feelings. You will be able to participate in conversations with your peers and you will feel very proud to have achieved your goals.

Let me be the tutor who helps you reach this goals. You can achieve it and you will!!!!!

My name is Lynne and have had the wonderful experience of teaching ESL for many years, in Canada, the US, and Mexico. I have taught in a resource center which catered to the Latino community in Toronto. I also taught Latinos in Birmingham, Alabama, for the Catholic Archdiocese.

In addition, I taught ESL to Asian students at a private school in Toronto called the Language Exchange. Basically all the students were temporary visa students who were either learning or improving their English before returning to their home country.

Finally, I ran my own business offering services such as ESL classes, job interview skills, essay writing and other services related to language skills.

I easily establish rapport with the students and together we find the best strategy to improve their English skills.

I have been a tutor for many years helping students to reach their goals.

I have helped students prepare for a variety of tests including their GEDs. I have also helped students improve their writing and study skills so that they are better prepared to tackle their studies and better equipped to improve their grades.

I am a published author, professional historian and English and Spanish tutor.

I am from Canada. In Canada, we used the IELTS rather than TOEFL to evaluate a non English speakers skills.

I was an English tutor in Canada and I prepared students to take the IELTS. It is a challenging test that evaluates students' abilities in reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Students who do well on this test are well prepared for academic studies at the university level.

I am a professional proofreader and editor. I worked for an academic publisher in the past and now I work independently. I have a keen eye and extensive knowledge about how best to organize and present material.

A well written essay with spelling and grammatical errors will not receive an A. The errors are glaring examples that the student did not take the time to review the essay before submitting it. Do not fall into this trap. Take the extra time and get the A you deserve.

I am an English tutor with many years of experience helping students of all ages improve their language skills. Reading is an important part of the curriculum of all schools and when a child or adult improves their reading skills the world of books opens up to them.

I am here to help you enjoy reading. To improve your skills, you will need to practice, learn new vocabulary and show that you comprehend the material. I will help you to master all these skills.

SAT Writing

SAT writing requires a strategical approach that will give you enough time to write a superb essay.

As a professional writing coach with years of experience teaching students how to improve their writing for essays, assignments and for the SAT, GED and ACT, I have had great success.

I not only write well, but more importantly I know how to teach you to write well within the allotted time of the test you are taking.

I took many sociology courses as an undergraduate at the University of Toronto in Canada. My BA is a major in history and a minor in sociology. I have taken a broad cross section of courses at the undergraduate level.

Because I have advanced degrees in history I feel that I am well equipped to understand the human condition although I recognize that sociology takes a different approach.

I am an excellent writer, an analytical thinker and a well rounded individual.

I love the Spanish language. I have traveled throughout the Latino world and have enjoyed my experiences. The doors open wide when you know the language and my travel experiences have been so rich due to my facility with the Spanish

I studied Spanish for many years and I understand the grammar much better than most native speakers. I can comfortably explain the grammar, tenses, vocabulary and expressions to give you the confidence to share time with Spanish speakers. Let's get started!

I have worked with students who have strong accents for many years. Although their English is understandable and correct, students often feel that their strong accents hinder effective communication.

I use exercises that require the students to repeat lists of words that will help them hear the subtle differences in pronunciation. We also use materials that require students to read passages that contain problematic words.

Students also will observe my mouth while listening to me speak. This helps them understand the mechanics of how to form words in a way that will elicit the correct pronunciation.

I have worked in the field for many years.

Study Skills

I have developed excellent study skills as recently as last year when I took the TESL. It was a challenge but I rose to it and did very well. Having worked with students for many years, I have helped them develop strategies for preparing for their tests, including SATs. It is important to be organized and to develop a well thought out plan. This will help students to use their time wisely. I am prepared to teach students how to divide their time so that they have enough time to complete all their assignments.

I am a very experienced TOEFL tutor I have years of experience teaching ESL and preparing students for their TOEFL exams.
I have excellent credentials including two university degrees and a TESL certificate.

I have worked with students of all levels, from beginner to advanced. I have taught new immigrants and overseas visa students. I have taught high school students, university students as well as professionals and adults.

I enjoy teaching and I love meeting people from different cultures. This way I can learn about another culture from the students while I am teaching the students about English and our culture here.

I am a historian and published author. I have written several books in collaboration with other historians as well as books that I have authored as the sole author.

I am very well organized and have an excellent sense of how to organize a paper, essay or assignment. I have an excellent understand of grammar as well.

Lynne has succeeded in gaining the affection and interest of my teen who rarely takes enormous interests in adults. Within a few weeks of moving to the US my son began to see Lynne to prepare for the history portion of the GED. I am beginning to hear him speak about her to his brother with endearment. He has admitted to me that he enjoys his lessons with her, which is rarely anything I would
