Hi, my name is Fred. I have taught and tutored math in both high school and Grossmont College for over 15 years. I am certified to teach all levels of math in high school and have a Master's in Statistics/Biostatistics at SDSU. I truly enjoy teaching and tutoring students in math and statistics and I believe my student ratings reflect that. My method of combining patience, simplification and directness has surprised many students as the ease of learning concepts they originally thought to be very difficult.
I am extremely patient at teaching a concept and totally focused on the student's understanding of that concept. I specialize in simplifying concepts of Statistics and Calculus and am very adept at preparing a student for a test of any type. Much of this ability to prepare a student for a particular test comes from being a high school baseball coach for over 10 years. I have been very successful in working with AP Statistics and Calculus students.
As a retired teacher my schedule is very flexible and accommodating. I tutor daily from 12pm until 9pm and on weekends from 9am to 6pm. Hi, my name is Fred. Fred is a friendly, patient and professional retired Statistics college professor with a Masters Degree. Since statistics was a foreign language to me, I have to admit I was nervous taking this class. Being a retired professor, Fred explained all the formulas and concepts in a down to earth manner that put me at ease in my home. I had attended private schools, and no other teacher could explain these difficult formulas the way Fred could using simpler methods than the book. I truly appreciate all the effort and time Fred spent on tutoring me in Statistics. My ultimate goal is finishing my Master's in Nursing Degree. Thank you Fred for helping me along my educational and professional journey. I highly recommend Fred the tutor with ten stars to every student.
My son just started his meetings with Fred, and has had two lessons thus far. He is confident that Fred 1) really knows his stuff and 2) can explain it to him in a way that he understands it. We are excited about having Fred as a resource and will continue to use him as a Math tutor.
Fred is very professional and is very patient. He is able to help my daughter understand calculus better. Looking forward to work with Fred again and we are very optimistic that my daughter will improve her grades in calculus. athanks Fred
I knew Fred from before when I did a Statistics lesson with him. I remembered from that experience that he tried to understand what my need was and focused on it. When it was time for my daughter I tried several teachers but Fred was the winner!!
Fred was on time and understood what my daughter needed. He went over her work and my daughter was able to understand her work. Fred found out very quickly that she was lacking confidence. We will keep on working on it. Overall he was very good and patient.
Fred and I discussed how to incorporate statistics into SPSS and he was very detailed in his explanation. Not only did we calculate the data in SPSS, we also confirmed it by using a scientific calculator. Fred is an amazing tutor!!!
Fred is patient and extremely knowledgeable. He knows how to explain difficult concepts. Fred helped me a lot with my assignment on a short notice. Will definitely use his help again in this class.
Our daughter struggles with math and Fred’s tutoring has really made a difference. She is a high school sophomore and Fred started working with her in her freshman year. One-on-one instruction coupled with Fred’s ability to explain difficult concepts has definitely made an improvement. Fred is professional, dependable, personable and accommodating. Between WyzAnt’s simple process and Fred’s great tutoring we couldn’t be happier. I would highly recommend Fred Kaiser to anyone that is struggling with Math.
Mid-way through our son's second semester of his senior year, we learned that he was failing AP statistics. He was a 4.1 student and had been accepted to one of the top UC's. We obviously knew we had to kick things into high gear to avoid having his admission rescinded. After reading Fred's bio on WyzAnt, we knew he'd be the perfect tutor for our son. Not only had Fred coached sports teams (our son will be playing a sport in college), but he also taught stats at a local junior college, so we knew he had the material down. We definitely made the right choice. Not only was Fred very reliable and punctual (and fast at responding to emails/texts), but he helped our son learn the material to the point where he earned a passing grade in the class. And we made a great friend in the process!
Fred was a great help in my Statistics class. I couldn't get my book to load on my iPad so he just explained entire concepts and formulas from memory with perfection. He was even able to make up distribution problems from memory and do the work in his head. He was extremely smart and a very good teacher. I would recommend him to anyone.
Fred is an excellent tutor. I called on him to help me study for the PRAXIS common core mathematics test. He was quick to respond to my request for tutoring and had flexible availability. He is patient, encouraging, and knowledgeable. He helped boost my confidence in math and for the test. After tutoring with him my test score went up 11 1/2%. I recommend Fred without any hesitation.
He was able to help me understand complex concepts on regression, modeling, and the output of SPSS. I will book him again.
Fred is a terrific math tutor, always punctual and very flexible and accommodating with scheduling! My son enjoyed their time together and benefited enormously!
Fred K. is a great tutor. My son struggles with math and Fred really has a helpful way of explaining the problems in an easier form that my son can really understand and pick up. Also, Fred having a baseball background really helps and is a nice common ground for the two of them which helps with relating the sport with math and it really makes a difference. Thanks for your help Fred.
I am currently taking a graduate level statistics course online and was having some trouble understanding how certain formulas worked with certain problems. I wanted to fix that trouble before it got too out of control. Fred was very patient and I was able to get back on track with his direction in only an hour. He was very professional and flexible enough to be able to work with my schedule. I will definitely be using his services again.
Mr. K. explained the concepts that I have been having problems with better than my teacher. I appreciate him taking the time to help me. Thank you.
Fred is absolutely amazing. He helped my son beyond all expectations. He is very flexible with his meeting times and makes it very easy to accommodate appointment time. My son felt an instant connection with Fred. Thank you so much, Fred!
Thanks so much for your feedback. This is why I still do this and what I enjoy the most about tutoring, the acknowledgement that I have increased a student's success level. It was a pleasure working with your son and I wish him the best of luck in school and basketball.
Fred is a great tutor. He was very knowledgeable and was able to explain how to solve problems and how to understand concepts in a way that is easy to comprehend.
Fred was the first person that I contacted for a tutor, and lucky for me. He will definitely be the only person that I go to for help. He is a lifesaver, amazing, cost-efficient yet has total command for the material. As a UCSD student, I haven't learned a single thing from my professor, yet Fred has helped my understand EVERYTHING. I just took my final exam today and was able to answer and understand every single question (there were 72 questions). He is the absolute best tutor there is and SAVED me in statistics! I owe my amazing grade that I will receive in this class to him!
Fred has been amazing in his patience and help. My grade is already going up in a very difficult class. Can't say enough good things.
My son had the tools needed and his confidence in place to do well on his test the next day! Thank you!
My son has had difficulty learning statistics with his high school teacher, just no connection. I then luckily found Fred K. My son has brought his grade from a D to a B+. Fred is our permanent tutor.
Thanks so much Jerry. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. This really makes me feel good about what I do. Thanks again.
Fred has a natural talent for teaching. He has the ability to take very complex problems and translate them into easily understood terms. He is patient, calm and can translate the mathematical and stats language into English for the average person. I am taking an MBA stats course and Fred is helping me immensely! I highly recommend him.
I loved working with Fred! He really was patient and makes it easy to understand. I have taken this class 4 times before and just could not understand or pass but this time around with Fred's help I not only caught up with my class which I was behind but I got a B! More than I can ask for in a Math class (statistics). Thanks so much for your help Fred! Will call you every time I have a math class.
My son was failing math half way through the semester, and not very motivated. Fred worked with him once a week for a couple of months on strategies to help him recognize and correct his mistakes. By the end of the semester he was getting A’s on his tests, and a “B” as the final grade. Fred's approach to teaching was incredibly helpful and effective, we can't thank him enough!
Fred stepped into a complicated situation, but handled it with kindness, and was a professional. He understood the immediate goal. As a parent, I appreciated his understanding and empathy as it relates to the challenges parents often face when their child is struggling.
Fred is by far the best tutor! He was able to help me understand statistics quickly and clearly. Fred really knows his statistics and is an outstanding teacher. I would recommend anyone who is needing help with stats to meet with Fred! I am not a math person and have always dreaded taking math classes and when my stats teacher was no help at all, it was a relief to find a tutor like Fred. Thanks for all your help Fred!
My son found the time they spent very helpful and he gave him some valuable insights on how to study most effectively for his issues.
I can't thank him enough or say enough good things about Fred. He is dedicated to his craft. Fred spent as much time with my daughter as she needed to basically learn a semester of honors math in a night. He has gone above and beyond any expectations I would have for any tutor. He is low key, patient and very knowledgeable. I couldn't ask for a better tutor.
I am in a Masters program that required us to take a Biostatistics class. While I do have an aptitude for math, this class was beyond my base capabilities and I quickly determined that I needed additional tutoring. I found Fred and it was a match made in heaven!
Over a four week period, Fred met with three other classmates and me for four tutoring sessions and really explained what we were supposed to be learning in class. He helped us learn the theories, complete our homework and prepare us for our quizzes and exams.
I appreciated Fred's flexibility in scheduling tutoring sessions with us and he was always available when we needed him.
I highly recommend Fred for any biostatistic or math tutoring ... I could not have passed my class without his help. (I am hoping to receive an A in my class! Need I say more??)
Hi Lynette, thank you so much. I really appreciate this, especially coming from you. This is why I keep doing what I am doing. Thanks again.
Fred is a god send when it comes to statistics tutoring. He is very knowledgeable, extremely patient, and spends the required time needed for my daughter to fully understand the concepts. Would recommend him for ANY student trying to grasp the difficult concept of statistics.
Thank you very much Cindy. This is the type of response that makes me want to do what I am doing with these student until I can't. Again, thank you very much.
My son had the confidence he needed to achieve an A+ in Honors algebra because Fred was always there to help when needed- usually at the last minute when my son was stressed. Thanks Fred! We moved or else I'd be sending you an email now!
Sorry it took so long to thank you for your comments. I really appreciate the feedback and that to me is what means more to me than the money or anything else. To me it is quite an accomplishment to make someone, especially kids better than they were before you met them. Thanks again, Fred.
I took an an online accelerated Bio statics class (in 5 weeks as opposed to 10 weeks) for my RN-BSN and got an "A"! Before I met Fred, my goal was just to pass this class and would settle for a "C" just to get this class behind me, as it has been several years since I have taken a math class and math has always been my weakness, let alone Bio statistics! Fred was the perfect match for me as he was so patient, and was able to explain what seemed so foreign into simple terms that I could easily understand. Fred was flexible with his hours and was always a phone call away if I needed further explanation or clarification on any problems I was stuck on with my assignments. I can't say enough about Fred, he definitely has a gift for teaching and is evident that he is very passionate about teaching, Fred really cares for the success of all of his students. So if you're still looking around for the tutor that is right for you, no need to look any further. Fred is the tutor for you!
I was taking an accelerated online business statistics course and was struggling just to get by. I found Fred K through Wyzant and started meeting with him once a week. His patience and level of understanding of the subject helped me tremendously. He explained the concepts, and walked me step by step through the different subjects. I was amazed how much I learned and in such a short time frame (9 week course). I ended up receiving an “A” in the course because of the help Fred provided. Thanks Fred for sharing your knowledge and understanding of Statistics with me, I couldn’t have done it without you!
I took an online class for Biostatistics in college and I was nervous going into the class given that I had little background in stats and given the small amount of time (5 weeks instead of 10). When Mr. Kaiser came, he very patiently sat down with me and explained everything that I needed to know for the tests. He lessons were very informative and I owe him many thanks for his clear, short and easy explanations. Mr. Kaiser simplified the material very well. When I was at risk of not passing the class, he patiently sat down with me for an entire week going over the material. As a result, I consequently ended up passing the class with a B+. I highly recommend him regardless of any math subject you are taking. He is extremely knowledgeable and very patient.
You were a majorly big help to my daughter. I know she was pressed for time, but you were able to convey the concepts in such a way that she really "got it". Thanks much, Fred.
Laura, thank you very much not only does that increase my student base and cause me to be more successful at what I do, but more importantly it validates my reasons for tutoring and teaching. I truly appreciate your feedback. Thank you, Fred
When I was in need of a tutor for an MBA statistics class, I happened upon Fred and am so happy I did! Fred went above and beyond to make sure that I not only got an A in the class, but that I was understanding the concepts on a deeper, practical level. I would not hesitate to work with him again, and I highly recommend him to anyone that needs a patient, well-informed tutor with years of teaching experience.
Statistics was the first class I taken since my hiatus from school 5 years ago. Hoping that I could pick up where I left off, I thought I'd give it a go without any help. With a "65" on my first test and a "55" on my second, I knew I wouldn't be able to get through the semester alone - that's where Fred came in. He was very patient in assisting me with learning the material and taught me in a way that was clear and understandable. He showed me a way to learn the material and prep for tests that was easiest for me. All-in-all Fred definitely knows his stuff when it comes to Statistics. Fred was very reliable, responsible and completely flexible when it came to scheduling. He always made himself available on days that I had exams. I brought my grade up from a "D" to an "A" within 10 weeks of Fred's help! I owe my 4.0 to him! If you need a tutor, he's the one you should choose!
I was really scared when I had to take Statistics as an adult who never had any previous knowledge from past schooling. Fred was my miracle angel who pretty much walked me through the tough parts.
Fred really knows his stuff when it comes to statistics and he has a gift of being able to teach in a way that is clear and understandable. Fred is very reliable, responsible, and flexible with your schedule. I got an "A" in statistics (the hardest class I've ever taken), when I was afraid I wouldn't even pass the class. I owe my "A" and my understanding to the help I received from Fred. He should definitely be your choice.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
