My name is Tracy J and have been working at Huntington Beach City School District for the last 4 years. I'm certified in the state of California to tutor students up to 8th grade. I've been working in classrooms from pre-k and kindergarten to 8th grade and am comfortable teaching any and all grades and subjects. I have a great understanding of how to communicate and explain lessons and ideas to students so they can finally understand what was supposed to be learned in class. Instead of giving answers to upcoming homework assignments, I teach the skills and tips they might have misunderstood earlier. By doing this, I am a stepping stone in life and not necessarily a homework buddy. Although, if homework help is needed, of course I'll be happy to do so.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
For the last 7 years, I have worked in Special Ed., and am very familiar with ADHD and the woes that come with it. On the other side, as a grown-up, I've met quite a few people diagnosed as children with ADHD, who today are extremely successful. I'm aware it's the method of teaching that needs adjusting, not the student. I am qualified to help you get through some rougher issues needing to be dealt with each and every day.
I've worked in Special Education for 7 years and am very familiar with Aspergers Syndrome and the challenges one has in a classroom setting, each and every day. My experience with students having Aspergers is the entire 7 years working at the school district. There is not an issue of loud defiance with these students, usually. My experience has been trying to show them how to have a friend, and be one. Not an easy task, but a task I have been pretty successful at witnessing. My job was just that. I trained students on how to care about their own behaviors, and the cares of the others around them, at all times. How I'm able to accomplish this is with honesty and explaining what and why we must act these other ways. I have the ability to easily communicate and form a sincere relationship with these children, many others find quite difficult to even want to understand. Mainly, with this ailment, the focus becomes very social, rather than let's say, classroom interruptions or a misunderstanding of lessons. I suppose my point is whatever needs and reactions that are not correct, I correct. I'm able to show them what's wrong, and give options to replace their natural ways. For some reason, I'm excellent at this feat, I don't really know why, yet it's what comes easily for me. Children trust and enjoy my company, as I do theirs.
All of these situations and unfamiliar behaviors can be less overwhelming with my help. Truly.
I have worked with students having Autism of all ages, and varying degrees of the spectrum for 7 years. No child, yet, has been too great a challenge, nor has there been anyone I wasn't able to help in great ways. Not meaning to toot my own horn, just letting you know how truly great I am communicating and encouraging my students to succeed in all ways.
I am trained and have worked in classrooms, ranging from pre-K through 8th grades, for the last 7 years. Any and all subjects have been taught and tutored by me.
I have worked in various classrooms for the past 7 years and am not only familiar with the instruction of phonics, but am great at teaching it, as well. Memorizing and patterns is the key. Tips and tricks are my specialty.
The needs of everyone are important, but those with disabilities need extra attention in order to succeed as adults. I have worked in special education for the last 7 years and love my work. Any and all disabilities are familiar to me and are unimportant as far as enjoying the real job, which is helping another human being.
