Hello, my name is Christian, but you can call me Tony. My tutoring career began at Riverside City College in the Math Learning Center. Math has always been my favorite subject and being ahead in my grade for most of my life led me to help my peers whenever I could. I realized I could reach a lot more people as a tutor. For almost three years I tutored college students of all ages and learning types in math courses from Elementary Math to Calculus. The techniques used to help students were engaging; breaking down problems to understand the components, using handouts for references, and practicing problems as needed was the core of our success. These methods of instruction are simple and effective, so I continue to use them today.
For one year I worked at an after-school program called Breakthrough Learning Center in Yorba Linda challenging K-12th grade students from surrounding schools. My responsibilities were providing additional practice, helping students understand their homework, and giving lectures or teaching topics ahead of their class. My attitude is always encouraging and supportive when guiding anyone learning something new.
I strive to build confidence in people working on their courses and guide them to take the necessary steps to approaching their problems. For me tutoring is about introducing different techniques to approach a problem to make it easier for someone to repeat, apply, and explain to others. I have seen a far greater appreciation for assistance, and even courses, when students are comfortably learning at their own pace and getting any missed information cleared. I find it essential to revisit previous topics and techniques that are the building blocks of upcoming topics to ensure a good foundation.
Everyone learns differently and I have learned to adapt to different learning styles by explaining accordingly. I hope to help as many students as possible reach their goals. Students really appreciate and can do a lot more when they have someone’s complete focus; therefore, I want to take

My most recent experience is at Jackson Elementary School with a classroom of 15-20 students and a range of K-5th grade math.
