I have worked with students at the elementary level, from grades k-5. I, comfortably, had my own class full of 24 students. I helped them all with homework, and also performed enrichment activities. They were in my class everyday, Monday through Friday after school, for four to five hours. All my students were comfortable to ask me any questions, related to homework, and I always let them know that it was okay to have questions and not understand certain material, making it easier for them to open up with questions. I also made it known that in order to proceed into higher education, there was no sharing of answers, only trying to problem solve for themselves, or have another student help them, without sharing answers.
I have a passion with helping out students because I believe they are the future and they deserve a chance at improving and enhancing their education, so that they can become whatever it is they want to become, and be confident in themselves to be successful in class, but also later in life. I also enjoy a student's satisfaction with being able to solve problems and find answers themselves, after I helped them understand the material a little better.
With math, there are a few "tricks" for being able to figure out problems. I always asked my students, first, how did the teacher show them how to do the problem, then I would show them a similar problem and show them a different method for how to solve the problem. After that, I'd ask them which method was easier, if the teacher didn't mind them using other methods, and if both methods were still difficult, we could find one that isn't. And if there aren't any other methods, I would keep bringing up similar problems, until they apprehend.
I believe it is necessary to correct the students, as soon as they make a mistake with grammar, and showing them the correct way. This way they can have a better understanding, and be able to improve throughout the tutoring.
I find it interesting to be able to use everyday life with common core because the students will be more engaged and be able to use everyday life in their work, to interpret.
I am very involved with students. I love for my students to be comfortable to ask me questions or for help, I let them know that I am not there to look down upon them, but I am there for their support, and reassurance.
I can help with math, reading, and common core for elementary students. I am always willing to help a student in current classwork, or maybe help them move forward. I am available Mondays from 1pm-7pm, Tuesdays From 4pm-8pm, and Wednesdays-Fridays 2pm-8pm. I am looking forward in helping, and being able to get you back on track or move ahead in classes. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
