I have 15 years of experience teaching mathematics to students of all ages and backgrounds, but I especially enjoy tutoring students one-on-one where I can focus on the student's individual learning needs. I have taught and tutored elementary, middle school, high school, and college students in arithmetic through pre-calculus. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am fully qualified to tutor people in preparation of the CBEST math section, based on my B.A. in Mathematics, M.Ed. in Mathematics Curriculum and Instruction, M.S. in Mathematics, and over ten years of experience teaching secondary (middle school and high school) mathematics. When I took the CBEST test in 2001, I passed the math and reading sections on the first attempt. I passed the writing section on the second attempt, which I had ran out of time for in the first attempt.
