I enjoy working with children. I believe children's education is very important. My favorite subject is Math. I am also fluent in Spanish. I graduated from CSU Bakersfield, and received my degree in Business Administration. I recently worked as an After School Program Activity Leader, where I help children with homework and did indoor and outdoor activities with them that met academic standards. I have tutored children in math as part of my community service for high school. I enjoy teaching students and I could say that is one of my biggest passions. Small children need the most attention. I believe by me becoming a tutor I can help parents teach their children Math, English, Spanish and even how to use a computer. I currently work for the Boys and Girls club as an after school activity leader and enjoy every minute of it. I would love to open my own Tutoring Center or Head Start Program sometime in the near future.
I like to spend time with children especially when I know I can be a great help when they have questions about homework or even questions in what is being worked in class. I am very responsible and I dedicate myself 100% to the students I have to help and educate. My biggest dedication is school because education is very important in order for us to earn a good job and have better knowledge about things. Learning is very important to everyone especially children who have so much to know. If I am given the opportunity to tutor your child or children I promise to dedicate myself fully to help him/her learn what he/she is to learn. When working with my students I first allow them to try out the material and if I notice they are not understanding I explain it step by step and make notes for them. I keep asking them questions like "Do you understand?" or "What exactly do you not understand about this problem or concept?" I also like to give them short quizzes to make sure they are grasping the concepts. I do not send any of my students home knowing they did not understand the subject. I enjoy working with children. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently working with a child in 2nd grade. I am helping him with his reading, spelling, and writing, and he has been improving. I have tutored a child in math in the 5th grade and his grade went from a "D" to a "B" just in the period I worked with him. I am also currently working with 2nd grade children, I help them with their reading packets, as well as their math. I make sure my students leave with the right answers and understanding the concept of the material they have just completed.
I am currently working with a first grader in English, and in reading and writing. My student spends two hours daily with me practicing. He has improved a lot since January. He started of with low English scores but has improved. I help the student sound out letters. I have the student read sentences and short stories and practice reading and spelling words. I am currently working as an After School Program Activity Leader, where I help children with homework and do indoor and outdoor activities with them.
