My name is Brittany and throughout this past school year I worked as a full time tutor at the Cesar Chavez Elementary school. I am a literacy tutor which means I worked with struggling readers. I helped students with their reading, writing, spelling, testing and critical thinking. I worked with students in Kindergarten, 2nd grade and 3rd grade. I also worked in the after school program at the same school assisting students with their homework. I helped the after school students with their math homework in English and Spanish as well as their reading comprehension homework.
What I love about tutoring is making a difference for each and every student. Every student has different needs and I love taking on the responsibility of meeting those needs of each individual. I love the excitement each student feels when he/she makes an improvement. It is an indescribable feeling knowing that the extra help I provide for each student makes an impact on their learning.
What makes me an outstanding English tutor is my results of the 30 students I provided service to. I improved 16 out of 30 students 1 reading grade level. Improved 3 out of 30 students 0.75 reading grade level. Improved 7 out of 30 students 0.50 reading grade level. Improved 4 out of 30 students 0.25 reading grade level.
I love baseball and softball! I started playing softball at the age of 6. I played for Bobby Sox for a few years and at the age of 8 I started travel softball. From 8 to 17 years old I played travel softball. I played in high school and at a Junior college for 2 years. I ended my last 2 years playing at the D2 level at Cal state University East Bay. I also have experience coaching youth travel softball as well as recreational baseball.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
