About Katherine

Bio

I have 15+ total years of classroom teaching experience at the middle school, high school, and college level, as well as the adult level. I also have three years of tutoring experience. I have taught English Language Arts (ELA), English as a Second Language (ESL) and history, especially American History, AP American History and World History. I also love to teach American and British Literature.

I have taught English Language Arts (ELA), English as a Second Language (ESL) and history, especially American History, AP American History and World History. I also love to teach American and British Literature.

I have a lot of experience with writing, editing and proofreading, and am a self-described grammar enthusiast. I was hired as a consultant to proofread two books and two master's theses for publication, and have edited numerous other documents in the classroom and the workplace.

I have a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin, and I have taken a few graduate level classes with the University of Southern California's Education Department. I have a lifetime teaching credential from the State of Texas, for English and history, secondary level (grades 6-12), and am currently working on updating my California credential. I have experience with college applications, as well as teaching students with learning differences. Both of my adult daughters are dyslexic - one is a medical doctor and the other is a star salesperson at a software company. I completed a 140-hour certificate course for Teaching English as a Second or Other Language (TESOL). I also have experience teaching TOEFL, IELTS & SAT test prep.
