About Jordan

As a first generation college student, I received no help with the admissions process - my saving grace was an essay that began with the sentence "I will be president of the United States." I knew that it would take audacity to get myself into a school like Harvard, and I still count myself an underdog admissions expert. My methods are creative, my intuition is often novel, and I genuinely enjoy butchering essays in order to rebuild them, better than ever. And while I shelved that particular dream of politics, I never gave up on writing. I've been working as an author and a journalist for four years and have used my talents to help friends and peers brainstorm and edit their admissions essays on a number of occasions, helping many of them win acceptance to top U.C. and Ivy League schools.

I have also worked as an English, philosophy, history, and sociology tutor with the Harvard Bureau of Study Council for three years, and have helped Korean and Japanese professionals hone their English for going on two. I find myself to be patient and understanding, and there's nothing I love more than forging a real bond with my clients. Thank you for checking out my profile - I look forward to helping you kickstart your academic endeavors

I have a minor in English and am a practicing author and freelance journalist. I focus on skimming and speed reading ability and, when it comes to writing, the development of a basic blend of professionalism and conversational cadence that I find lacking in many writers.

My focus field in college dealt with American history and identity, as did my thesis, an exploration of American School Shooters. I received a 5 on the AP History test as well.

I'm happy to provide writing samples and examples of my own college admissions essays - just ask!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Social Studies

I received an honors degree in Social Studies from Harvard University. I also served as a tutor in a number of classes in the social sciences ranging from history to sociology to government to philosophy for the Harvard Bureau of Study Council. My methodology centers around asking my student to explain complicated theories and ideas, as I find this the most effective means by which I've learned in the past.
