Excellent writing gives one an impressive edge in this competitive world. Stand out from the crowd by having your written material professionally proofread and edited! Perhaps you are working on a master's thesis, a business report or business letters, as examples? Perhaps you are a non-native English speaker needing assistance?

I specialize in correcting grammatical errors, spelling errors, and typos. I can suggest rewording of awkward sentence structure, polishing your writing so that it reads more concisely and clearly. This can all be conveniently done ONLINE, using technologies in an interface that allows you to accept or reject each edit I make, which allows you ultimate control of your document.

If you are an adult that needs tutoring to improve your writing over time, I use patience, my professional background, and even some humor to help you improve. Together, we can analyze your written material, sentence by sentence, to identify error patterns and review the pertinent rules of grammar, as needed. (This too can be done online--or by meeting in person.)

MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND: My expertise with the written word was honed through the process of transcribing and proofreading thousands of pages of testimony, as a deposition reporter. Licensed as a Certified Shorthand Reporter for 25 years, I was held to a very high standard of accuracy and professional ethics. I also taught court reporting at a local career college for five years, daily reviewing the finer points of grammar in my classes. My students often told me that I explained grammar in a way that made that challenging subject much less confusing. While attending Occidental College, I majored in Comparative Literature and minored in French. I have also completed courses at CSUS in creative writing, writing for magazines, and editing.

TESTIMONIALS:

As a full-time consultant and part-time professor over decades, I judge Paula as one of the very best one-on-one communicators I have ever encountered. I recommend, without qualifications, her skills at
constructive and accurate assistance with our language and the written word. (Chuck W., Folsom, CA; Full-time consultant, retired professor)

"One of the few teachers I have had in my lifetime whose presence and positive energy shined brightly. The rules of English grammar and punctuation were reviewed daily in thorough detail. I saw her transform students who never got it before, and they left her instruction forever changed." (Malinda R., Sacramento, CA)

"A skilled tutor. She understands my writing level and she is able to help me improve my writing skills." (Max V., Sacramento, CA

"She is a very knowledgeable English tutor, she helped me organize my thoughts for my writing assignment and she is excellent at correcting my grammar, punctuation and sentence structures. Vocabulary

Through my college studies in Comparative Literature and 12 years of experience working as a Certified Shorthand Reporter, I have always worked with words. I respect their power. I've had several people, including my son, tell me that I have one of the best vocabularies of anyone they know. I believe this is because I have always been an avid reader, so I've always paid attention to words. I look at words with humility and curiosity, and I enjoy looking up words whenever encountering new ones. I love to know the etymology behind words.
