About Tamir

I am a college professor of political science. I have been teaching at the college level for eleven years now. I teach American Government, Comparative Government, International Relations, and Politics of the Middle East courses.

I love teaching and tutoring, because I love learning. I hope the enthusiasm that I bring to every tutoring session will help students enjoy the learning process. As a committed lifelong learner, teaching and tutoring give me the opportunity to continue to learn and grow both personally and professionally. I truly enjoy simplifying complex concepts for students and sharing my knowledge with them. It is such a good feeling when a student “gets it” or when they ask a good question. I love working with students!

It’s important that students care about what they’re studying and understand how it’s relevant to their lives, so I always discuss how the material we are covering impacts them directly or indirectly. My role is to facilitate learning, motivate students to achieve their full potential, and to teach students how to think critically and independently. I care deeply about student success and work to inspire students to succeed.

I am available to tutor students in the following areas: government and politics, history (both American and world), English (reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar), geography, proofreading, social studies/sciences, anthropology, and the humanities/philosophy. Feel free to ask me any questions. I look forward to working with you and/or your children and helping you achieve success in your studies!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American History

I have an M.A. in Political Science, a B.A. in Government, and an A.A. in Liberal Arts. I've taught American history courses at the University of Phoenix. I also cover both American and world history extensively in the college political science courses that I teach.

Anthropology

I am a college professor of political science. I have been teaching at the college level for eleven years now. I've taken both cultural and physical anthropology courses at the college level. I earned "A" grades in both courses. In addition, my mother is a college professor of anthropology.

Classics

I minored in Humanities in graduate school where we studied the philosophy, history, and literature of antiquity. I earned "A" grades in all of my graduate school courses. I have read, analyzed, and written about the great books.

Public Speaking

I have been teaching college and university level courses for the last eleven years now. I have taught classes ranging in size from three to 78 students (most have about 40 students). I also did some public speaking in my previous capacity as a legislative aide for a California State Assembly member. Finally, all of my students have to deliver at least one oral presentation every semester.

Social Studies

I am a college professor of political science. I have been teaching political science, history, and philosophy (critical thinking) courses for eleven years now. I earned a Master's degree in Political Science with a minor in Humanities from Texas State University. I also regularly help out my oldest daughter with her social studies homework.
