I have been tutoring and teaching secondary level mathematics for 7 years. I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics from UCLA and a master's degree in math education from CSULA. Currently I teach math full time and offer tutoring in the afternoons.
Students and colleagues frequently tell me that my presence and attitude toward the subject of mathematics is calming. I wasn't always good at math so I know how frustrating the subject can be. I believe in my students and I think that with the right approach, everyone is a capable learner. I have been tutoring and teaching secondary level mathematics for 7 years. Diana is wonderful! I was at the very end of my Algebra II class at SMC and had been struggling throughout the semester. I met with her in one week 4 times before my final and she explained everything that had been covered throughout the semester so much better than my professor had. I was very stressed about my incapability to fully understand and grasp the subject. Diana swooped in and taught me everything I needed to know in a calm, simple, and very efficient manner. I would have failed my final and my class without her. I definitely plan on having her tutor me next semester in my next math class. Thank you, Diana!
The math in my life is so much more manageable with the help I am receiving from Diana. Diana is patient and is great with identifying which areas within each problem I am having difficulties with; even when I might not be able to convey this coherently.
Diana takes her time to explain the material and artfully brings out the skills you might have forgotten you had. Diana is the best tutor ever. She has great people and communication skills. It is unbelievable how talented she is. She is a natural at making the most intimidating problem a non-issue.
Diane is amazing and patient, kind and giving of her knowledge. I liked working with her. I never felt rushed or bullied. I have my second appointment with her on Monday and can't wait.
Diana is patient and makes sure I have a good concept of the problems before we move on. I just need to make it through and she is helping me a lot.
Diana has been great. My daughter feels very comfortable with her and able to ask the questions she needs. She feels more confident after each meeting. Thank you Diana for your help and patience.
Diana as she is an amazingly patient, calm and thorough teacher. I was suffering from increasingly acute math anxiety as a non-traditional student working on returning for pre-medical studies and I have seen enormous benefit already in slightly over a week of working with her. I recommend her highly.
She's not only a math teacher/tutor, but she's a math therapist. She's awesome.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
