My educational background includes Bachelor's and Master's in Mathematics, and Associate's in Computer Programming.

As far as experience goes, I have tutored high school and college students off and on for about 10 years, and taught mathematics and statistics courses as an adjunct community college instructor and university lecturer for about 4 years.

The biggest challenge I encountered when teaching classes was trying to communicate with 30 (or more) students all at once and to do it fast enough to get through all the material that I was required to cover. I much prefer a one-on-one arrangement since I feel that is when I am most effective. But my experience as an instructor was still a positive experience, and definitely made me a better tutor, because now I have a much better idea of what instructors expect of their students, and I also built up a sizable collection of teaching materials (lecture notes, practice problems, exams, quizzes) which I gladly share with students at no charge.

I offer appointments both in-person (if you are in the Sacramento area) and online. For online tutoring, I can meet either through Skype or WyzAnt's online tool (between the two I prefer Skype as it seems to be more technologically reliable). If you are having trouble finding an in-person tutor, I recommend considering online tutoring. Although it does have a different feel compared to in-person tutoring, students new to online tutoring may be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is.

Very knowledgeable and patient.

Excellent first session. Marc was able to tailor the lesson to fit the needs. He also made sure she understood the concept using multiple methods. He validated what she knew and then expanded on her understanding.
