I find teaching enjoyable and something that I am good at. In the context of education it is rewarding when students go "uh huh!" and realize that things make sense! When someone goes "uh huh!", learning has happened. As a tutor, my role is to guide you to those "uh huh" moments. The barriers that hold students back from learning new stuff vary from person to person. In my experience, every student learns differently and has a different understanding of a topic, a concept, or even an equation. What works for you (the student) is something that is highly personal, and should I have the opportunity to meet you, I would be happy to personalize your "uh huh" moments.

A little bit about myself:
I have taught a fundamental engineering class to undergraduate students for one year and I have tutored numerous college (and high school students) in engineering class (e.g. statics, strengths, mechanics of materials, technical writing, labs etc.) and math classes (e.g. calculus and statistics). Most of my past students have done well in their classes and have come back to ask me if I can tutor their subsequent classes. I know what it's like to be a student, it is not easy. I would be happy to share some of my experiences, tips, and skills to help you in your academic pursuits.

My goal with my students is to help them succeed in their courses. This means that we can do a variety of things to catch you up to speed, for example, review pre-requisite materials, do practice problems, go over homework, prepare for a test, or even to get ahead. I take the time to understand and listen to my students so that I can better serve them as a tutor.

I have completed numerous math courses (including calculus) in my education and I have encountered them in many engineering contexts. Math is very abstract so adding meaning through applications (hopefully within your line of interests) will make math more interesting.

Knowledgeable and extremely helpful

I was able to meet with Zhen multiple times for my statics course, and he helped me tremendously. He has a very good understanding of concepts, and is able to explain things in a way that makes sense and is easy to understand. My statics grades immediately improved after putting in some time and meeting with him, and I definitely recommend Zhen to anyone looking for a good statics tutor.
