How I Tutor: Tutoring students via Wyzant's platform brings me a lot of joy. Working one-on-one is especially impactful for student growth and maturity. Because I feel very passionate about literature and writing, I am very effective with my students. My tutoring emphasizes various pedagogical practices that will assist students in "how to write well" and "how to think critically," but also, "how to think creatively, strategically, and responsibly." Students leave sessions feeling empowered and equipped with skills that they can apply and re-apply across disciplines.
My Goal for Each Session: I aim to assist students with current assignments by addressing but moving beyond grammar and editing, and instead, to begin thinking carefully around more important aspects of writing that they can apply in other classes. I teach my students a patience with reading strategies as well as writing, that is, sharpening interpretation into critical analysis.
