Hey! My name is Megan, and I would like the chance to become your tutor. I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and received a major in Architecture. I have tutored many students with ages starting from 3 and up. I have tutored one-on-one and have also taught a whole classroom of students. I taught most of my students math, but some of my students also requested help with their English. I am well qualified to teach piano and music theory because I have passed all 10 levels for both piano and music theory tests. I am a Chinese-American and have been speaking Chinese ever since I was born. I think I am a well-rounded person and have learned a lot through my life and I would really like an opportunity to teach students what I have been lucky enough to have learned.
To gauge how much my students have learned and what they need help with, I will look over their previous and current studies, especially their homework. Once I figure out what my student can improve on, I will set a course plan. I want to be able to talk to the parents before tutoring the students so that I can understand what they think their child needs. However, I understand that parents are busy, so if they are unavailable, I will talk to my students and ask them what they would like to learn and what their expectations are. I do not believe in punishment; however, I do believe in discipline, so I will be a little strict with my students. I strive to give my students what they need so that they will be able to have fun learning and have an easier time of understanding what is being taught. Thank you! Hey! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
