Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Geometry can be especially challenging when a student has a hard time with visualizing the work they are doing. I work with students to ensure they have a solid foundation in geometry basics so that the more advanced problems will be approachable.

I studied Japanese (reading, writing, and speaking) for 3.5 years during my college career. I tutored beginner-level students in the program at my school for two years. I also was a teacher assistant at a high school Japanese class for one year. I still actively practice reading, writing, and speaking Japanese with my former classmates, and tutor online.

I started learning piano at the age of 10 years old, and started teaching at the age of 11 when my teacher decided I was ready to teach others. I taught over 15 students, with ages ranging from 5 to 18. I teach students how to read music, and transfer that ability to the piano, building on fundamentals like sight reading and finger & hand coordination. From beginners piano up through Classical piece by the great composers, I work with students to make piano fun and engaging. Overall I have six years of experience teaching piano.

Building a strong foundation in Prealgebra will enable students to continue to find success in their math classes afterwards as well. I work with each student's individual learning styles to make sure that they understand the concepts and are confident in their ability to test through the subject.

I have over eight years of experience working with students to develop well honed study skills. I first spent time with each student to identify how they learn best and what types of motivation appeal to them. I then spend time developing and presenting a plan to the parents and student. The student and I then work as a team, involving the parents in the process, to practice the study skills that work the individuals learning style. The process is about making learning and studying fun and rewarding so that it is not a chore.

I ran on my high school track team for all four years. I even made varsity my freshman year. I still actively run five miles a day at least four times a week. I have knowledge and experience running the following races: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 4x100m relay , & 4x400m relay. I have two years of experience coaching short to mid-distance runners, and preparing individuals for 5K, 10K and half marathon runs.
