Fuller theological seminary Master/divinity (Master's)
I have had many years of experience teaching and tutoring students K-12 and college age in General Education, English, ESL, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian. I am able also to teach or tutor in Biblical Greek or Hebrew. I have been successful in teaching students in order to pass state language exams. I have worked as a certified driving instructor. I have been a sports Coach, a Director of youth Camps, and director of youth programs.
My tutoring methods include, but are not limited to, assisting the student with his/her currently assigned curriculum, assuring that the student has a thorough understanding of the subject matter. I assess and diagnose the student's strengths as well as areas in need of growth, as well as their strongest learning styles. I utilize the student’s areas of strength to connect with and build on the growth areas. I also get to know the student, their interests and background, and find ways to relate their previous positive learning experiences with the subject matter to be learned. In the case of foreign language tutoring, for example, the student and I begin at the point of current understanding and use that understanding to build on their listening, speaking and writing skills. Using both inductive and deductive methods, I engage the student in learning vocabulary, grammar, and syntax by utilizing games, music and mnemonic tools as well as age appropriate repetition and supplemental homework assignments focused on specific areas in need of improvement.
I focus on supporting the objectives of the course as communicated by the teacher, in order to work with the teacher to the end of learning successes for the student.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
