By nurturing a mentor relationship with his students, he has written recommendation letters that have landed students with a career at Loma Linda Health, a volunteer position at the competitive Kaiser Permanente COPE program, and prestigious research fellowships at both the NSF-BITSURE and UC LEADS program.

Prior to graduate school, Winn has also written successful applications to scholarships including the UC LEADS Fellowship, the Cota-Robles Fellowship, and the US Department of State Gilman Scholarship. He has also edited essays which have yielded successful admissions letters to top colleges.

Every online tutoring session consists of live, interactive tutoring, visual schematics, and real-time problem solving with the student. ** In addition, my regular students have FREE access to me 24/7 at no cost for quick questions. **

Interested in learning more about his tutoring style? Connect with him now to schedule a FREE 15-minute tutoring session and let's achieve that next goal!

------

Currently tutoring students in:
1. General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry
2. Physics, Materials Science
3. Multivariable Calculus, Precalculus / Trigonometry, Algebra 2
4. English (Non-native student who speaks Spanish), Reading, and Writing
5. PSAT

-----

Tutoring Philosophy: I teach students how to think independently by challenging their traditional learning style with problem-based learning. Every session's success is measured by real-time assessment of new concepts learned during the current session. My goal for each student is that they "graduate" from tutoring and become masters of the concepts.

Microsoft Windows

I have used Microsoft Windows since I was a child, and I can navigate the computer with minimal use of the mouse. Because of this, tasks that would normally take someone an hour may take me 30 minutes or less. I take advantage of keyboard shortcuts, and I hope to translate these skills to those whom I tutor. I have extensive experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

I have written successful applications for the UCLA UC LEADS Scholarship, UCR Cota-Robles Fellowship, US Department of State's Gilman Scholarship, UCLA Chancellor’s Award and the UCEAP Promise Award to name a few. I have helped my students write successful college applications to the University of California system, with > 90% acceptance rate to UCLA. Additionally, my letters of recommendation have landed students opportunities including but not limited to hospital internships, National Science Foundation research opportunities, and a UC LEADS scholarship.

Korean

I took a year of Korean and did very well. Eventually, I studied abroad in Korea, where I progressed deeper in my knowledge and spoke only Korean during the duration of my stay. I currently stay immersed in Korean with TV series and conversation partners. I would be an excellent tutor for non-native learners who are just starting out learning Korean.

During my elementary school years, I was bored with the school curriculum and advanced beyond the standards by up to three years. Since high school, I was tutoring other students in their algebra, geometry, and calculus courses. I am also flexible in starting from the bare foundations from setting up a number line to looking at how to find slopes on a graph. My approach focuses on providing students a concrete, visual approach to understanding otherwise dense, abstract math concepts. Specifically, I meet students where they are and help them to achieve new knowledge by scaffolding their current knowledge towards their course content goals.

ACT Science

I have 5+ years of experience teaching K-12 science as well as undergraduate chemistry (general, organic, inorganic - including labs). I have also tutored algebra, calculus, physics, and materials science. In addition, I have taught a full year of college chemistry online during remote learning, so I am familiar with effective online education.

SAT Math

During my elementary school years, I was bored with the school curriculum and advanced beyond the standards by up to three years. Since high school, I was tutoring other students in their algebra, geometry, and calculus courses. I am also flexible in starting from the bare foundations from setting up a number line to looking at how to find slopes on a graph. My approach focuses on providing students a concrete, visual approach to understanding otherwise dense, abstract math concepts. Specifically, I meet students where they are and help them to achieve new knowledge by scaffolding their current knowledge towards their course content goals.

highly recommend

Winn is really awesome. For organic chemistry 2. I had 1 hour with him i started with him not knowing anything and left knowing everything and understood everything he taught I was able to do book problems on my own. At the beginning I was scared that I’m gonna waste money because it’s not in person and online moves very slow. Turned out that’s not the case he’s fully prepared I felt it went as the same base as if it was in person. Highly recommend.

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor

Winn did a great job at explaining topics i struggled with in chemistry. He was very patient and helped me have a better understanding on the lessons. I appreciated how he was patient and let me try working out problems on my own and would then correct me and show me where I went wrong.

Super smart, patient, and attentive.

He’s really smart and it’s obvious to see that he knows what he’s doing. He had a lot of patience, was attentive and was willing to help me out with extra homework I had. Awesome tutor!

Invested and Followed Up

We tried 4 tutors in 36 hrs and my child felt Winn was the best teacher. She was able to learn from Winn… knowledgeable in physics and knows how to teach. As my daughter would say “10/10 would recommend”! Winn also followed up to see how she did on her test. We will be working with Winn again for sure!

Extremely Knowledgeable in Organic Chemistry

I am currently in Organic Chemistry I and needed help with MO's, HUMOS/LUMOs, etc. I was really struggling to find someone who could help me with this, then came along Winn. Winn was an excellent tutor. He knew his chemistry well and he is passionate about teaching others. Not to mention, his background makes him highly qualified to tutor chemistry and it truly shows how well he knows chemistry. Orbitals are extremely complex and difficult, but Winn helped me understand all of these concepts so much better. I am telling you, set up lessons with him as soon as possible because such an amazing tutor, especially in chemistry, is hard to come by. 5/5 stars He is also a really kind, caring, and cool guy! Thank you Winn
