I am a Deaf woman hailing from Washington DC. I recently moved here for my internship in school counseling at the deaf school in Riverside. I am seeking for additional opportunities during my free days when I am not doing my internship (twice a week). I am fluent in sign language and written Emglish. I have worked as a tutor in Gallaudet University for the past four years before moving here. I often worked with international students who needed help with their sign language, English, grammar, writing, and reading skills. Along with my psychology and counseling background, I am very adaptable and can work with a variety of individuals. I enjoy meeting new people and connecting through exchanging knowledge. I especially enjoy working with different kinds of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
I am a native sign language. I come from a fourth generation deaf family. I am fluent in ASL.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in psychology and am about to complete my Master's in school counseling. I am proficient in literacy, both reading and writing.
I am deaf and use sign language to communicate.
I look forward to meeting and working with unique individuals! I believe tutoring should be an interactive experience rather than an one-way street where I am "feeding" students information which defeats the purpose of learning. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
