I've been teaching biology at the community college level for 8 years, and was a TA at UC Riverside before that. One of the things that made me want to become a full time teacher was helping students understand the material they are studying.
I have experience teaching students from all walks of life...first time students, students who are coming back to school to train for a second career, as well as my second grader's homework (!!). I'll use analogies from your every day life to help you understand the material you're studying and help you learn to think critically about it, to ensure lifelong learning.
I have a Ph.D. in physiology, and have taught human anatomy, zoology, and general biology several times. Not only do I love the subject, I'm constantly in awe at the complexity of life.
I want to help you learn the material you're struggling with. Contact me today so I can know more about your concerns, and we'll come up with a plan together to help you tackle this! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
