Hello. Thank you for your consideration and kind attention. I am very excited on embarking on this journey of tutoring and in the process helping young students accomplish and excel in whatever area they choose to pursue. I have always had a passion for English literature at a very young age. My love for reading and writing is what led me to pursue it as my major in college.
I have an Honors Bachelors and Master’s Degree in English Literature; I graduated Suma Cum Laude with a 5.0 GPA with a minor in Journalism and Creative Writing. I believe that good study skills and a strong work ethic is the cornerstone for academic excellence. During my college years in India I taught Non Native speakers English, reading comprehension, spelling and phonics. I taught children as young as six years old as well as adults who wanted to improve their language skills for work. Watching these young children flourish was a very rewarding and enriching experience. I was given the opportunity to tutor college students who needed help with writing papers, assignments, essays and helping them prepare for their exams. All of these experiences taught me to be a better student and apply the principles to help me accomplish my goals.
It was my passion for English that helped me to instill that in both of my children. I taught them the same study skills and a strong work ethic which enabled both of them to excel academically and they were well rounded in sports, debate teams, speech meets, spelling bee, math Olympics and in music. They won awards in each category every year at the district and state levels. I was a teacher’s aide for six years while my son was in elementary school and another six years when my daughter was in elementary school as well. It gave me experience in grading but more than that it gave me the opportunity to help young students in reading comprehension, phonics, spelling, penmanship, grammar and Biblical Studies. During this time period I was asked to be the judge for speech meets at the school and also to be a judge for the meets at the district level. Having served in this capacity for ten years was very rewarding as I was able to help these young students to memorize, enunciate and teach them to be confident to get up in front of the whole classroom and at the district level to present their speeches in front of hundreds of students with enthusiasm and boldness. Alongside I was able to be a mentor to high school students as well.
Both my children graduated from high school with high honors with a 4.30 GPA as Valedictorian and received high academic scholarships to top Universities and went on to graduate from college Magna Cum laude with high honors. My being hands on Mom with my children, teaching them the same study skills I grew up with I believe contributed to their academic excellence. My son is an excellent writer and a successful business owner. My daughter was Valedictorian in sixth grade, eighth grade and senior year, she went on to achieve awards in writing and journalism every year in college and held the position of Editor In Chief for the newspaper at Pepperdine. She is free-lance journalist for LA Mag and NME Magazine in London and has had innumerable articles published online and in print and is currently the Assistant Director of Publications at a University and writing coach for the Journalism Department.
I am an astute student of Biblical studies as well. I have had the opportunity to be a Senior Support Leader and assistant administrator at Harvest Christian Fellowship. This has allowed me to be a mentor and offer encouragement to many women of all ages through weekly teaching as well as having the platform of public speaking to hundreds of women. It has been a privilege and honor to be able to touch and change lives in a positive manner. I have had the experience of owning our own business, coordinating, scheduling and event planning and I worked at California Medical Physics, as the office Administrator/Manager. Now with my children grown and well established I am embarking on this path of tutoring as I have a passion to help, teach and inspire young minds to overcome any challenges and go after their dreams and goals. I feel I can implement all the methods I have learned to help your student. I am in the process of pursuing to write my book in the meantime as well.
Being a breast cancer survivor for sixteen years I feel I have been given a second chance in life and it is my heart’s desire to give back to society and serve others to live to their fullest potential each and every day.
My passion is to teach young children how to balance academics, sports and all other extra circular activities and to make learning fun at the same time take the time to enjoy being a kid. Time management and organization are my strong points while honing in good study habits, highlighter and flash cards go a long way. My goal and passion is to make learning fun and I believe in positive motivation and rewards. Most of the time the easiest tool is how to apply yourself and work smart. I am an avid reader and I would love to instill that in the minds of young students and how valuable it is and how it will help them for the rest of their lives. I truly believe if I could help my children excel as well as their peers I would love the opportunity to help your child accomplish what ever goal they choose to aspire for and watch them grow up to be fine outstanding citizens.
Thank you for taking the time and I look forward to hearing from you.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master degree in English Literature graduated Suma Cum Laude. I have a passion for English and feel I am a good writer and have successfully taught both my children to excel in all these subjects.
Bible studies is also my passion and I am an astute student of the Word. I have been involved in Bible study at Harvest Christian Fellowship for fifteen and have been a Senior Support Leader and Assistant Administrator offering encouragement in Bible study through teaching and public speaking .
I truly believe that handwriting is paramount . Having graduated with a Masters Degree in English the emphasis on handwriting was superlative. I understand in this day of technology and computers it is like a dying art but I believe that good handwriting goes a long way and being able to write properly on paper with a pen is an art that goes a long way alongside penmanship.

Good study skills are the basis for successful academics.
Study skills are what I instilled very deeply into my children along with good work ethic. i truly believe that is what enabled them to achieve high scholastic accomplishments . It was the same study skills I was taught that helped me achieve with my Masters Degree with high honors of Suma Cum Laude.I have helped many other young people to learn good study skills which involve auditory, visual and kinesthetic, students should be able to hear, see and handle.Along with time management for homework amidst other extra curricular activities. Having a to -do list is highly effective for good study skills and screen time can be used as a reward and positive motivation.
