I am a well-rounded tutor in the following subject areas: math, science, English, French, and history. I have tutored middle school students for a summer at an academic enrichment program. I helped them with subjects ranging from algebra to physical science, and grammar to writing strategies. I also introduced high-school level literature to the students who really enjoyed English.
I have a B.S degree in Chemistry. My expertise includes algebra 1 and 2, geometry, precalculus, chemistry, biology, reading, writing, and test prep.
I can explain and clarify a wide range of concepts, whether it's subjective or objective.
I teach by paving the path to get to the answer, not by giving out the answer without the actual steps along the way.
I work with students by simplifying both quantitative and qualitative matter in a way that helps them engage in the learning process. I break down advanced material into more basic ideas to make things easier to understand and retain. I can make learning less stressful and painstaking by tailoring the lesson to the individual's specific needs. I know how to identify and help improve their weaknesses in order to address what they have the most problems with. In addition, I have numerous study tips and strategies to share with students, as I have taken and mastered all the subjects I mentioned.
My teaching philosophy is simplify, reduce, and reinforce.
-Simplification is helpful when approaching concepts one has never been exposed to, which is important when working on higher-level school assignments.
-Reduction is used for further breakdown of key ideas and principles in such a way that students are able to grasp what they need to know. It can make learning and studying a lot easier and less of a burden especially when there's limited time in students' schedules.
-Reinforcement is a way to help the student retain and remember the relevant material after they have grasped it. It is probably the most difficult step in the whole learning process, because the human brain can only hold so much information at any given time. However, with the right tools and methods (flashcards, study guides, virtual aids, etc), I can help the student retain things better in memory.
With that in mind, I am eager to help students excel in the subjects they want to get better at. I'm looking forward to work with you. I am a well-rounded tutor in the following subject areas: math, science, English, French, and … Read more
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
