My passion for teaching grew from constantly learning. I am currently working on my Master's in education at the University of Redlands. I have been a substitute teacher for almost two years now in the Redlands Unified School District. I have loved every minute of being in classrooms helping students achieve what they thought they could not achieve.
I was also a student teacher for Redlands Unified for over three months. I enjoy helping students reach their potential. Helping each an every student realize what they are able to accomplish is what drives my teaching. My philosophy is that every student is capable of learning, you just have to find which learning styles fits the student best.
I have taught math in K-8 and have helped many students discover a love for math. As a person that had trouble with math as a child, it has been amazing being able to show students that they can understand math. I do that by relating their knowledge to the material that is being presented to them.
I have worked with students in K-6 helping them develop their vocabulary. I have them point out words that they are having difficulty with and we find out the meaning and pronunciation of it. I also have helped students develop fluency in reading in order for them to become great readers and writers.
Teaching in Redlands has given me the opportunity to work with the Common Core standards. Like Common Core, I love having my students think critically. I work with my students by facilitating the learning process in order for them to have more involvement in their learning.
Having worked in the Redlands Unified School District for two years has given me the experience to cater to every student's needs. The majority of my assignments within the district have been at the elementary level. I feel that I bring a positive attitude that students pick up on. I treat my students with respect and do everything in my power to help them understand material that has been giving them trouble. Elementary education is my passion,
I am available Monday-Friday in the afternoon and evenings, with days notice I can make myself available during the day. I can travel to students or have an online session with them. My base rate for an in-person session is $35/hr. and $20/ hour for an online session. We can also set up a package deal at a discounted price.
I look forward to helping you achieve success in your studies! My passion for teaching grew from constantly learning. I am currently working on my Master's in education at the University of Redlands. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
