Every student and, therefore, every tutoring session is different. I used to approach tutoring sessions thinking that I had to find out what it was exactly that the student wanted. What I’ve found after a couple of years is that you have got to make this enjoyable for the student. Engagement is something that I emphasize, I love to engage the tutee in his/her respective subject. What I most about tutoring is when I see understanding obtained, when that is obtained I know that my job is done and that individual has grasped something that they could not with my help. I love to see people learn and understand what they once did not.
I am currently a student at Cal State Los Angeles with less than a year left in my major field. I major in Sociology, I have taken an exceptional amount of psychology courses as well. These two specific sciences are my specialties, sociology is the science of society, social institutions, and social relationships; specifically; the systematic study of the development, structure, interaction, and collective behavior of organized groups of human beings.
I am a college student myself. I have been through this journey for quite some time and throughout my college career I have learned many things. One of them is to do research on what you are planning to do before you enter a college. Make sure your on track to take classes that actually go towards your major field, or if you are in your first couple of years figure out what classes need to be taken to get your general's completed. Nowadays college counselors are overcompensating and they usually give students incorrect information about what classes they should take. This in turn causes many students to take classes not necessary towards their degree field and unfortunately both money and time is lost. I can help with that, I do research and dig around making sure the classes completed and taken go towards your goals. I have helped numerous students that were often confused on what classes they should take that would count towards their major fields.
I have been coaching for 2 years in college and 2 years in high school and I have been running for the past 10 years. I started out running competitive track in high school, specializing in the 400m, I have also done long jump, high jump and the 200m. I am a firm believer in coaching, I have been coached myself for most of my running career. Besides my formal coaching education, I have learned a great deal from my coaches and training partners that I am always interested in passing on to others. I love to inspire and motivate! Expect nothing but a great practice! I'm here to motivate, but motivation is not only enough, one must have knowledge in his/her area of expertise. Speaking up is encouraged! I'm a coach that listens to his athletes, no pressure, I'm primarily focused on improvement and improvement begins with consistency. My sessions begin with a thirty minute warm up followed by drills and stretching. Shortly after this daily routine we will get into the workout for the day. I believe in all of the athletes that I train, it starts in your head and then how you feel about yourself transfers into your overall performance on the track. I believe in you, do you believe in you?

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
