I am currently a Ph.D. student in applied mathematics in Claremont Graduate University (CGU) and Part time college professor/lecturer of math with more than ten years of tutoring experience. I also have a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from University of Sothern California (USC) and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University Northridge (CSUN).

As a high school student, I had always been very passionate and at the same time serious in my Math subjects. I achieved a perfect score in my AP calculus AB and BC tests. Ever since I started my electrical engineering program, I tutored students in middle school and high school math subjects (Pre-Algebra through AP Calculus BC), Lower division college math classes such as Calculus and differential equations, electrical circuits, linear systems, engineering statics and control systems. Moreover, as an undergraduate student at CSUN, I worked as a math teacher assistant for college algebra and also tutored students in algebra, calculus and trigonometry, both privately and in the CSUN’s math tutoring labs. As a teaching associate, I conducted supplementary class sessions for students and provided practice problems to help them understand the subject better.

Every individual that I work with is unique and different as far as tutoring needs. I have worked with students from different backgrounds in a very diverse environment. My ultimate goal is always the student's success and thus, I am very focused on the specific needs of every individual that I work with. I always maintain transparent and informative communication with parents and the students themselves as far as what the short-term and the long-term goals are and what the road map and the progress is in reaching those goals. I also make every effort to make myself available for the students outside of the regular in person tutoring sessions. Examples include short Skype or FaceTime sessions before an examination to go over last-minute questions that might have been arisen or late night helps with the homework assignments. Quite a number of my former students have been accepted to well-known universities nationwide such as UCLA, UC Berkeley, Yale, Duke and USC.

I am very patient and always on the student side and from first-hand experience, I understand the challenges that each student may face. I know what it means to be academically challenged and perhaps overwhelmed. I also know how what it takes to shine and academically become the star of each class. I am here to team up with you and help you overcome the barriers to succeed in achieving your academic goals.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have been tutoring Algebra 1 since I finished my middle school. Over the course of about 14 years of tutoring Algebra 1, I have been able to develop effective techniques of simplifying math problems for students and teach them how to improve their speed in understanding and solving those problems.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have tutored Algebra 2 to middle school and high school students for more than 10 years. Since I started my engineering program at California State University Northridge, I worked as a Supplemental Instruction Leader aka "SI Leader" for their college Algebra course which is in fact Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 combined. Throughout these years, my experience enabled me to help students understand their subjects better and quickly build the confidence they would need to succeed in their exams.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

As an Electrical Engineering major I have been utilizing Differential Equations and its applications heavily in my courses. My engineering experience has given me a deep insight and understanding of differential equations. I have also tutored differential equations at CSUN to students majored in either math and electrical engineering for three years.
Electrical Engineering,

Electrical Engineering

I have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. As an electrical engineering student I have worked as instructional assistant, tutor and grader for Electrical Circuits (ECE 240) and Linear Systems (ECE 350) for the Electrical Engineering department at CSUN.
Trigonometry,

Trigonometry

During my high school years I was more focused on my math and physics courses to prepare myself for Engineering school. I took Trigonometry in 9th grade right after Algebra. I started applying my Trig knowledge in Physics mechanics in 11th grade. At the same time, I started tutoring trig to other students. After starting my Electrical Engineering program I worked as math tutor for almost all lower division math courses at CSUN math tutoring center. I have also tutored students privately. With my experience I have been able to teach the concepts to my students and help them learn the subject rather than memorizing the formulas and identities.

Knowledgeable and Prepared Tutor

Babak is tutoring my son in pre-Algebra. He reviews past concepts as well as pre-teaches new concepts, which is exactly what my son needs. Babak comes prepared with work sheets and is very patient.

Excellent math tutor

Babak was great and easily adapted to the student's needs. We especially liked how he methodically wrote down the math notes so the student could follow the step by step processes and continue to study even when Babak wasn't present. We highly recommend him.

Very Knowledgeable!

Babak has a very deep understanding of Calculus. We went through the major rules for finding derivatives. He would explain concepts as well as give me examples to try and figure out on my own and was of course ready to help if I ever got stuck!

Amazing tutor!

Babak is one of the greatest tutors I've ever had. He is very knowledgeable about the material and actually cares if you learn the material or not. His explanations are very thorough and he goes past his scheduled time until you understand. Amazing tutor and highly recommended.

Very experienced tutor, worth every penny!

Babak came to my son's rescue in geometry this semester. His experience and confidence pushed my son, and after two session my son said, "He helped me see geometry in a whole new way, and I feel like I can do any problem now." Babak understands how to teach TO the student, not just teach the subject. He made sure my son was confident and understood the material before he finished a session. We will continue to work with Babak and I cannot recommend him enough. He's easy to get a hold of, and communicates easily via email, phone and text!

Exceptional!!!

I've met Babak over this site and he's a wonderful tutor. Math is not the easiest of subjects for me but he really makes you understand the roots of the problems, and he even made my grade go from a D to a B+ with just a few sessions. He honestly saved me this semester, and I would highly recommend him to anyone!!
