I characterize myself as a renaissance man with multi-dimensional background. I have my Master's degree in Studio Photography having exhibited my work for over 10 years. I have been active with digital photography since 2003 and have instructed photography at the college level as well as numerous other subjects as a substitute teacher in the public schools system. I also have over 10 years background in scientific research having been employed through the UC and CSU systems. My Bachelor's degree is in Business Management where I graduated Summa Cum Laude, (top 1% in my class) as I did with my Master's degree as well. I have been a tutor at the college level as a student and have coached children aged 7 to 17 in baseball, softball and basketball. As a high school basketball player I achieved second team All American status. As a teacher I am not a cheerleader nor a task master. I will work to give my students all of my knowledge and experience making the journey as humorous and pleasant as possible and I expect them to be self-sufficient in dedicating themselves to the challenge of becoming the best they can be. Memorization is naturally an integral part of education in any discipline, but far more important than this is comprehension and application of what one has learned to real world situations. Education is just the jumping off point from where we take what has been done and expand the bounds of knowledge to the next level. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been using Adobe Photoshop since 2004 as the primary tool of my "digital darkroom" in producing my photographic artworks and in processing imagery for commercial photography. I likewise have completed college level coursework in the use of this software for artistic applications. I utilized this software exclusively in the production of my graduate thesis body of work entitled, "Ancestor, Tell Us A Story" which combined digitally scanned traditional photographic negatives, digitally scanned objects and artifacts and direct from camera digital imagery seamlessly fused together into exhibition prints I call, "digital constructs."
I have a Master's Degree in Art and have been an international exhibiting artist over 10 years.
My basketball experience extends to the high school level where I played for Sonny Festejo, a central valley basketball icon. I earned most improved player twice and was a JV and varsity team mvp and high school 2nd team all American. I was also in the top 10 scoring leaders my senior year and top rebounder as a wing forward.
I am a photographic artist having participated in my first international group exhibit in 1991. Since then I have exhibited my work locally, nationally and internationally in various venues including museums and galleries both public and private. I earned my Master's Degree in Studio Photography in 2006. I began taking photographs when I was 7 years old and creating images in the darkroom when I was 13. I have been working in large format photography since the early 1990’s, medium format since the late 1990’s and digital imagery since beginning work toward my Master’s degree. My graduate exhibition was a fusion of traditional and digital imagery, exploring both ancient and contemporary iconography, ritual and totemism and produced for final exhibit in digital monochrome format. To date I have collaborated on photographic projects with horticulturalists, choreographers, writers, biologists and astro-physicists.
I have professional experience writing for scientific publications. I have also written newspaper articles, essays, term papers, project reports, artistic manifestos, trade publication articles, newsletters and assorted fiction including short stories and screenplays.
