As a tutor with several thousand hours under my belt, I have experience working with a diverse array of learning styles, ages, and disabilities. While everyone has their own learning style and thus approaches must be tailored to each student, I strongly believe in learning through understanding the concepts behind the material, followed by struggling through proper examples. I find this approach balances both conceptual and practical knowledge, and helps students retain the material effectively.

My teaching style varies by student, but I strive for learning to be both efficient and effective. I believe in students learning at their own pace in the way that works best for them, but also learning in a way that allows them to save time and retain the maximum amount of information. I have always had a passion for learning fast, and have learned countless tips and tricks that have proven invaluable to my many students in over a dozen years as a tutor.

My strongest programming languages include Python, R, SQL, and JavaScript, but I am also adept at a broad array of modern technologies (databases, AWS, etc.). I typically work with graduate students, PhD candidates, and professionals who are looking to improve their skills at any number of related disciplines.

I work as a machine learning engineer at a startup in Silicon Valley, building the infrastructure for a new-age credit card and designing the company's risk models. My strengths lie in a broad array of software engineering and data science disciplines. I am also a fully credentialed actuary (FSA, MAAA), and have been tutoring each exam since its completion.

If you are interested in learning with an efficient and effective approach, or are interested in learning the skills to become a software engineer, data scientist, or actuary, reach out so we can have a discussion to figure out if I am the right fit for your needs. I look forward to hearing from you and speaking with you.

Incredible Python Data Science tutor!

Andrew really knows Python and also knows how to interpret and apply Python to solve difficult data science problems. He is actually extremely quick at it too! His demeanor is very pleasant, kind and patient and seems to enjoy teaching others. What more can I say except I really believe he is gifted, a genius!

A super star

I am doing a Masters dissertation and have only been using R for a few months. Andrew was fantastic and helped write the code that I needed to run my data analysis. I would have been lost without his help. I have learnt so much.

Excellent and knowledgeable tutor.

Andrew helped me with my Machine Learning Homework. he knows his stuff very well and he explains clearly. He helped me to write code in Python to solve a problem about classification. Andrew was able to find a solution to every curveball I threw at him, and it was obvious to me that he has significant experience with different programming languages. I definitely plan to have another tutoring session again with him for any future help with Machine Learning. Thanks Andrew.

Incredibly knowledgeable and efficient!

Andrew helped me write code in R to read and manipulate some very poorly formatted files. Andrew was able to find a solution to every curveball I threw at him, and it was obvious to me that he has significant experience with different programming languages. I definitely plan to talk to Andrew again for any future help with R!

Knowledgeable, patient--great tutor!!

Andrew was SO helpful to me in determining how to attack a data set. He taught me as we went and explained everything in an easy to understand way without over-complicating things. He is patient, and incredibly knowledgeable about data/statistical analysis. He does this for work so he knew how to quickly attack the problem and describe it to someone “new.”
