Hello! My name is Brianna and I am graduate student in a STEM field. I have over six years of experience in tutoring, and currently tutor all levels of math and science, including high school-level Algebra, Chemistry, and Biology. I have extensive experience working one-on-one with students with learning disabilities, including those with ADHD, dyslexia, and ASD. I strive to create a culture of active learning, making connection to real-world situations, where students have the freedom to explore and ask questions and feel unafraid to make mistakes.

I am no stranger to standardized tests, having scored a 34/36 on the ACT in high school, which earned me admission as a Regents' Scholar to both UC Berkeley and UC San Diego, reflecting recognition of the top 1% of applicants to the universities. I chose to attend UC San Diego and graduated with a B.S. in Human Biology with Phi Beta Kappa and cum laude honors. Though I personally come from a strong academic background, I recognize that everyone has different strengths and learning styles, and many students struggle in high school and beyond when coursework becomes more challenging and demanding. This is normal and it happens to us all! It is important for students to develop grit as they face challenging work, and to cultivate habits of mind that stimulate their growth and boost their confidence.

When working with new students, I like to take time to get to know their strengths and discuss their academic and non-academic likes/dislikes. I do my best to tailor my teaching style to each student, taking great care to remain encouraging, dynamic, and patient. During a session, in addition to reviewing new concepts, we might cover study habits, test-taking strategies, and organizational tips for success.

I have been tutoring science since I was in high school, when I tutored peers and younger students after the school day ended. From the intricacies of the cells of living organisms to the conceptual beauty of the periodic table, I enjoy bringing science to life. Scienc
