In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have 10 years of basketball experience.
I coached YMCA lakers basketball that focused on the fundamentals of footwork such as defensive slides, crossovers, ball hand placement, rebounding techniques, dribbling and running plays.
I played on the 2007 Redondo CIF basketball squad, which was a team with very good athletes, some continued to college, that made it all the way to the state playoffs. From this experience I took away valuable ways to teach positions specifically the "Center" position learning post up moves such as the up and under, skyhook, jump ball, pump fake and lay ups.
I am an expert in teaching the Center position and am knowledgeable off all aspects of the game.
I learned strength development techniques from El Camino College. I took a course that focused on the development of strength as well as explosive Olympic strength training and have used these techniques to train myself and others.
I use four major lifts for strength which include the bench press, squat, power clean and dead lift. With these four lifts you can build overall strength then I use machines to focus on specific parts of weaker muscles to create balance and stability.
I am knowledgeable of different methods of body building and Olympic lifting.
I played High school Varsity Football for 4 years. I am knowledgeable in teaching techniques on the offensive and defensive line such as driving your hips, explode on the snap of the ball, arm placement when blocking, 3 point stance, 4 point stance, extra things to look for when blocking such as head placement and angle of attack. I can help with defensive moves such as teaching the "rip" or "swim" move to get past blockers and shuttle drills to increase speed and agility.
I spent 4 years on high school varsity track in the throws. I was a scholarship athlete in Track and an All American in Track for Shot-put. I was ranked in the NCAA top 25 in the nation in shot-put and discus. I am the Redondo High School record holder in shot-put.
I was MVP in track in high school and at ECC college. I was top 10 at ECC and CSULB for shot put and discus.
I took a coaching course with Olympic shot put legend John Godina who is also the founder of the "World Throws Center". In the course he broke down the spin and glide techniques for throwing the discus and shot put and taught specific training methods to develop new throwers for the spin and the glide. I learned things such as "sweeping out of the back", "axis of rotation", "stand(power) position", "up and over", "A-drill" and more.
