I have been in education for a number of years. I began working at the collegiate level as a counselor. I worked with a variety of learners at different levels of their life. Some were attending college for the first time. Some were returning after years. It was a rewarding experience to walk them through the enrollment process. Providing learners with tools to aid in the next journey of their life was amazing.
I love tutoring because I am able to help empower students to feel confident about their education as well as help them to reach their goals. There's nothing like observing the moment they understand. The moment it clicks is when I feel excited for the student. It's usually in that moment that they become excited about learning.
I have an Associate degree in Video and Digital Arts which essentially is digital filmmaking and a Bachelor degree in Screenwriting. I am one class away from completing my Masters of Art in Teaching. I hold a teacher license in two states. My content areas are Communication Arts and Literature and English.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was an athlete in high school lettering in basketball all four years. I earned many awards such as MVP, All Region, All District, Highest Field Goal Percentage multiple years and played on the East/West All Start game in high school. I am member of the 1000 point club at the high school I attended. I signed my letter of intent and went on to play in college for a period.
I love the game and I understand how it is played. Good sportsmanship is important to me and teaching the fundamentals.
Recently, I had to coach my son's little league basketball game without notice and it was an exhilarating experience. They had a double header and I coached both of them. The kids played that second game as though the first was just a warm up. They played with heart and intensity and excellent sportsmanship and had a lot of fun in the process. I work with my son several times a week showing him the fundamentals of the game now that he is interested in playing. We work on ball handling, shooting and other drills. He's asking more and I am more than happy to teach him how the game is played.
I have decided to volunteer as an assistant coach on my son's team since my recent experience was so much fun and rewarding. I am there every practice as it is and work with the kids teaching them proper form and technique before practice begins.
I have a degree in digital filmmaking and screenwriting. I have worked on set for a number of years in a variety of roles ranging from behind the scenes as a grip, director, producer, audio or whatever is needed to the talent on set (in front of the camera) working for companies such as Target and Best Buy as well as others.
I know how to take a concept, turn it into a script, produce, create a budget, hire a director, a director of photography, hold a casting call and find talent, scout location, film it, edit, promote and/ or four wall the project for distribution if needed.
My undergraduate degrees are in digital filmmaking and screenwriting. I have worked in that field for quite some time. In college, I took multiple acting classes (beginning to advanced) and worked on set as talent. The classes incorporated acting on camera and on stage.
My experience as a filmmaker and actor has been beneficial in helping me to see both sides and how they work together.
I am also a licensed teacher in two states-Communication Arts and Literature (MN) and English CA).
