University of Redlands, School of Education (USA) Teaching Credential (Other)
I received my two university degrees in Mexico. I am able to help teach proper language in the four areas: speaking (pronunciation), writing, reading and understanding/interpreting. I am also able to help children with the Montessori strategies as well as middle or high scholars with Spanish levels I, II, III or IV. In addition, Spanish majoring college students can get extra help on the writing essays process and/or literature. Spanish for Spanish Native Speakers is another possibility to provide help emphasizing on grammar rules, accent marks and paragraph structure.
Because Spanish must be practiced in order to learn/improve, I will divide the tutoring session in three different parts to mainly cover the speaking, writing and understanding areas. In order to reaffirm each session content, homework is optional depending on the students or parents' decision. Technology may be used; however, one-on-one tutoring must be the goal avoiding to use English during the instructional session. As a regular school course, the vocabulary and grammar gradually have to become more complex until the Spanish learner gains the confidence enough to speak and understand properly in context.
The selected books, educational materials or additional resources will be part of the agreement with each student/parent. The same discussion about types of preliminary, ongoing or final assessment/evaluation can be agreed and scheduled.

Bertha was able to explain some of grammar concepts that my son was having difficulty. They also discussed other areas where he was facing challenges and would be picking them up from next session.
Bertha was extremely kind, patient, and knowledgeable. My son already feels more confident, and is looking forward to his next lesson.
Bertha is knowledgeable, has a command of the language & is very patient. She works around our child's schedule & accommodates & is readily available.
Bertha is a wonderful teacher! She helped my daughter tremendously. Bertha had a few lessons with my daughter for an AP Spanish test and she was so well taught and given all the information to handle this test. My daughter felt so confident to take the test and after the test my daughter was very pleased stating she felt she did well. I would recommend Bertha 100% to any one having problems in Spanish. She is professional and easy to learn with.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
First of all I feel extremely proud of being Hispanic and keeping alive my culture and values. Secondly, I am able to help learn a proper Spanish. Holding two degrees from a prestigious university of Mexico has become a big asset in my professional life and job experience. It qualifies me to speak, write and read properly in my native language. I taught college at the same university; it included the correction of essays and reports from my students, which helped them refine their native language at university level.
Currently, I hold a single subject teaching credential in California. I have taught Spanish GED to adults, Spanish I ,II, III, Native Speakers, and home-school in high school. In addition, I help elementary, middle and high school students in a daily basis and have been translating as well as interpreting for various school districts.
