Montana State University - Bozeman (Elementary Education)
I love teaching, and I love to learn. There is nothing more exciting to me than when a person grasps a concept that was before a mystery to them. I love the look on children's faces when they really "get it." I have always had a love for education, and it is because of this that I decided to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. Through my studies I had the opportunity to teach in many different settings, from kindergarten to eighth grade and math to science. During my last semester of college I taught fourth and fifth graders science and history and absolutely loved it. I was outstanding senior of the year in Elementary Education and graduated with honors.
Outside of the typical school setting, I've had many opportunities to teach and see children learn. In 2010 I traveled to Honduras for a month and traveled around several small villages teaching English. I also helped lead a team of middle school and high school students to Mexico to distribute wheelchairs to children in 2011 and 2012. Since university, I have had the chance to nanny children from the ages of three to eleven. With every experience, I see that learning is something that happens everyday, and I love when I can help a child discover something new.
My degree is in Elementary Education. I have had exposure to 6-8 literature classes and some teaching experience with these age groups. I am also an excellent writer and have helped to edit and assist in the writing of two books.
I have a degree in Elementary Education and was outstanding senior of the year in Elementary Education. I scored in the 85th percentile on my PRAXIS exam and have experience teaching in fourth and fifth grade classrooms.
I am an encourager, and I always try to draw the best out of people. I work hard and want to make sure my students are getting everything they need. I love teaching, and I love to learn. There is nothing more exciting to me than when a person grasps a concept that was before a mystery to them. I love the look on children's faces when they really "get it." In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
