Teaches the concepts from the beginning very well then pushes concept into the lesson so it all makes sense. Very patient and willing to go over lessons that didn't make sense or wasn't understood in the previous tutor session.
Although it had been some time before Ragi had passed his regulation exam, he was able to assess the areas that were his strength for tutoring in individual taxation. I was able to provide him a list of topics that he thoroughly researched and had practice questions to go through. He also ensured that we spent our tutoring time efficiently and provided learning techniques that I could then apply in my own time.
I believe my tutoring time with Ragi helped me finally pass my regulation part of my CPA exam and would recommend him to others struggling with individual taxation.
After a few weeks of lessons, I am seeing a new tutor. Ragi was no longer able to complete the weekly objectives and even admitted the material was challenging him (now I don't feel as bad for struggling!), so he was not able to offer much instruction. He was very upfront about not being to understand the material I needed help with and was also very accommodating throughout, but did not have the knowledge of accounting I was looking for as it turns out.
Ragi has been working with me since I came to him after failing the midterm in accounting. After beginning our sessions, I am understanding each chapter much better than I was on my own, and have improved my grade in the course drastically. He is dedicated to my continued success and is excellent about being available for meetings, scheduling has been a breeze. He engages the student during the lesson to develop your understanding of the subject, and gives thorough explanations so everything is crystal clear. I look forward to getting through this semester successfully with the aid of Ragi.
I appreciate David's feedback, which holds some truths to it. In the last couple of sessions, there were couple of areas that I did not easily grasp and had to spend extra time to figure them out. I was under pressure and time constraint to finish his weekly assignments and quizzes without spending the extra time to explain the process. I felt frustrated and uneasy as he came to our tutoring sessions without attempting to start the homework or so it appeared. My objectives were to help him understand and get a better grasp at the homework and the chapter at hand. I was informed that I need to help him get the highest grade possible in the weekly assignments and the quizzes, so he doesn't need to worry about the final exam as he would have accumulated enough points to pass this course. I totally see where he is coming from and which direction he was going, but from my point of view, to sit and finish his weekly assignments and quizzes for him, that would defeat the entire tutoring experience. I even had to request few times that my student engages with me in doing his homework. Overall, I felt that I was not helping my student by simply taking his place in the learning process. Unfortunately, my tutoring grade was reduced from 5 to 2 despite my tremendous help in the first few weeks together. I even helped him attain high grades in all quizzes. At any rate, I believe that David is a smart guy and will do just fine in this class and all other classes with more effort and motivation on his part.
My first lesson with Ragi went well. He's patient, and explains it step by step. So far so good!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I learned to write and speak Arabic as a native language. Although I moved to the USA about 16 years ago, I still communicate in my native tongue on a regular basis. Moreover, I often translate from Arabic to English and vice versa. I will assist you with your different needs to write and speak Arabic like a pro. I know the task is great but I am capable to help you overcome any obstacles. Learning 3 languages (Arabic, French, and English) at a young age enabled me to believe that anyone can do it as they put the time and effort to it.
I am a Certified Public Accountant with 7 years of experience in the field of taxation. In 2006, I started as a tax staff at a local CPA firm. Three years later, I was promoted to a tax senior with more responsibilities and exposure in the tax field. In 2012, I accepted another job offer at a larger CPA firm as a tax supervisor. In addition, I volunteered at one of the IRS VITA site in interviewing and reviewing tax returns for the low to middle income taxpayers. My educational background, experience mentoring and coaching junior tax staff in the workplace make me highly qualified and fully equipped to tutor this subject matter.
