I began my education with a degree in communications and worked in the area of advertising, marketing, and public relations. I've always enjoyed writing in school and for my own enjoyment. I'm a Fellow of the UCI Writing Project and have taken many courses as an adult through their program. I returned to school to earn my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, as my passion was always to teach! I've taught in both public and private schools, I've done tutoring and I teach the summer program at Saddleback College. Currently, I teach Creative Writing and English Composition to ages third through eighth. I especially enjoy teaching kids on a one-on-one basis. I get satisfaction from helping them achieve their learning goals and seeing their growth. I love teaching, because I believe I'm able to make a difference in the lives' of children. I can't think of a more important and valuable profession.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Long Beach. I have taught full time for more than ten years in both public and private schools, including the International Baccalaureate Program. I have conducted reading intervention programs, as well as taught writing courses at Saddleback College for Kids Program for the past five years. I have tutored for approximately four years.
I'm qualified to teach reading, due to the fact that I've primarily taught the primary grades, where students are taught to read, so that they're able to read to learn. Reading and writing are reciprocal skills. Ive worked with small groups of students involved in reading intervention programs. I've taught writing classes through Saddleback College's College for Kids for 6 summers and am a Fellow of the UCI Writing Project.
