My name is Steve and I am private Korean tutor. I studied Korean linguistics during college and have been teaching Korean as a second/foreign language for over ten years. SLA (Second Language Acquisition) is one of my areas of interest as I enjoy teaching people new languages and observing different learning patterns.
I am fluent in English and I feel that this will be beneficial to students in many different aspects. I am able to explain detailed concepts of the Korean language in English and avoid any confusion that may possibly arise because of language barriers.
I am a caring tutor that caters to each individual student. Each student has a different learning style and I adapt my lessons to fit the needs of each student. I am patient and always willing to help the student in every way possible.
Teaching Korean has truly been a great experience for me from both a professional and personal standpoint; I hope to share my language and culture with many more students in the future.
Please feel free to contact me anytime to inquire about lessons.

Again, it was a great lesson. He's great at assessing my skills and determining what I still need to learn and how I need to learn it. He's patient but still challenges me. He's been great
We moved from Asia to the States in Sep. 2014. Steve is a great tutor for my 10th grade son. Steve has great skill to interact with his students and his teachings are beneficial for a non native speaker in academic studies.
I've been searching for a tutor for a while now. I'm in school right now getting my AA in Korean Language and Arts. The lessons go by in class so fast that I don't always get everything and confused often. I'm really to happy to have found Steven, who's passionate about teaching, very patient and supportive. My weekly lessons have improved my comprehension, speaking and learning Korean. I'm enjoying my classes so much more now because of him.
I highly recommend Steve K to anyone who wants to learn Korean. You will not be disappointed.
My boys really enjoy lessons with Steve. It helps to have his linguistic background instead to explain things instead of just instinctively knowing the tradition of the usual native speaker.
I have been meeting with Steve for the past four months to learn Korean. Steve is a knowledgeable, resourceful, patient, and supportive tutor. He brings a rich understanding of Korean language, culture, and society, as well as his educational background in linguistics, tutoring experience, and a wealth of resources into sessions. The content of his lessons is practical and interesting. He breaks down difficult concepts and answers questions thoroughly. We do speaking and writing exercises which are engaging and interactive. He also assigns relevant homework and readings. He is easy to reach by phone and is prompt with text messages & emails. He is flexible and accommodating in terms of scheduling and meeting location. He is always early to sessions and prepared. I highly recommend Steve as a tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been playing basketball since I was 7 year old, and have played on many different teams and leagues. I understand the shooting concepts, different defense methods, different offensive tactics, and the overall fundamentals of the game. I have competed and won first place in many different tournaments, such as the Nike 3on3 tournament, the Gus Macker 3on3 tournament, and various other 5on5 tournaments. I also have experience coaching basketball. I coached in several different junior leagues and was able to show kids the fundamentals of the game. I don't consider basketball just a sport that I can play, but a sport that I definitely understand the "science" of and am able to explain the science and fundamentals to someone. For these various reasons, I feel that I am definitely competent to assist someone with basketball.
