I'm relatively new to professional tutoring, but I have plenty of experience as a teacher nonetheless. I first learned that I had an affinity for teaching when I would help my younger sister with her homework. Being able to help her reach that "Aha Moment" was always a great source of pride and excitement for me. Back when I was in high school, I used to volunteer at an after-school program helping teach essay writing to middle school students. Many of these students had learned English as a second language, and an even larger amount were at risk at being held back. While working with these kids, I found that most of them struggled with time management and lack of motivation. I learned over time that the most effective way to reach them was to approach them as a friend instead of a teacher. In other words, I use encouragement in place of enforcement in order to get my students to take pride in their work.

One of the reasons why I really enjoy tutoring is because I love learning new things. The feeling I'd get in class when a new topic "clicks" in my head has always made me feel great, and being able to help others have that same experience feels just as rewarding! This has been particularly true for me with math and physics. As a former mechanical engineering student, these two have been at the foundation of everything I study. As a result, applying these subjects (both inside and out of an academic setting) have become second nature to me.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions -- I'm here to help!
