My love of teaching stems from the fact that I love working with children (from toddler to young adult). I am a fully credentialed elementary teacher, but I am also certified to teach mathematics up to 9th grade. Most of my teaching experience is in 7th and 8th grade math. I have been a permanent and substitute teacher for 15 years and currently teach grades K-5 in an online/virtual classroom setting. My current teaching sessions are mathematics and intervention/extra support.
I love math! My teaching specialty is mathematics, which includes elementary math, pre-algebra, Algebra/I, and geometry. I also have many years of experience in teaching language arts (phonics, reading, spelling, vocabulary, writing, grammar, etc.). I like to help students connect what they are learning to real life situations that they can identify with, which helps them visualize what they are learning.
I prefer to have telephone consultations prior to tutoring in order to gather the information/details necessary so that I can be fully prepared to give students the best help possible. I require a 24-hour notice of cancellation with all fees being paid through WyzAnt. My tutoring sessions will be in a public library setting.
Please contact me for more information and I look forward to working with you and your student to help him/her reach their academic goals. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
